Has Anyone Ever Seen One Of These Controllers Before?

Post by retrogamer »

I have this controller pictured below in my collection. I think it is rare because I have never seen another one like it on Ebay and I can't seem to find out any information about it on the internet. I've had the controller for about 10 years. It is for the Super Nintendo but can also be used with the Smart Joy SNES to USB adapter for the PC. It is made by Hori with the official Nintendo seal on the back of it. Is anyone here familiar with this controller? It is for the Super Game Boy adaptor for the SNES and it is a dead on match color wise to the original Game Boy. Too bad a SNES to GameCube adapter does not exist since I would love to use it with my Gameboy Player on the GC.

looks nice, judging by the label on the switch, it's probably japanese or european, the super game boy logo is the same for all regions, how did you get it??

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I like how they even slanted start and select properly.

I bought it brand new from one of those mom and pop type video game shops in the early 90's. Too bad they are no longer in business anymore. You are right. That little switch in the middle is some sort of a region switch which will allow you to play on a US console or the Super Famicom. Hori always made great stuff imo. I really like their Gamecube controllers that look like the SNES pads. Their products always seem to meet or exceed first party accessories. I have been checking Ebay for many years for another one and have never seen one listed so I don't think too many of these controllers were produced. I'd love to see what it is worth but I don't want to sell it to find out.

Plus you have to give Hori props for that faux speaker grille on the bottom right of the controller like the OG Game Boy had. :D
