If you want to be able to play imports without modding your console, yes. Also, a memory card does not have any ram functions. It just saves your game, thats it. Official memory cards tend to go for way too much nowadays anyway. Get the action replay, it will save you $$ and trouble.
Well, I could get an official JAP white memory card to match my white JAP Saturn for 30 USD shipped. The console is already modded, so that isn't an issue. I don't have a RAM cart or any type of external memory unit. I am intrigued by the idea that I could back my saves up to the PC with this one (for a price), but if I bought an official card would I never need that?

Nope those things hold saves forever. 30 bucks is a sweet deal, I'd say go for it.

Since this is about Sega (Psst, hint is in the name) I've moved it into the Sega sub-forum.

Please think about the topic and where it should belong in the forum. Don't just dump it in the whatever forum. That place is for everything we don't have a sub-forum for.

But AR+ works as a RAM cart as well. That's why "4 in 1" ;) Extra RAM + saves + cheats + play imports.

The 4-in-1 card is a must have if you're a saturn owner!

True story, the AR+ is the business. Only disadvantage it has is that it cant actually be used to save in-game, it can only back up your saves when you start the saturn up. Great product though. If your love of all things Saturn runs deep, buy both :D

Yeah, I have both. When you're just playing normal games, it's really annoying NOT being able to save to the cart. So I use official Sega memory card most often. The Action Replay Plus is only taken out when I need the video ram or I wanna cheat.

I bought an AR+ at the Too Many Games show last year, but now I can't find it. And of course I have a copy of Metal Slug just begging to be played.
