The National Geographic of video games: Afrika and Aqua.

Post by J T »

These games are coming out for the PS3 and I think they look really interesting.

Afrika:

Aqua:

Basically, your character is a photo journalist and you just run around and try to snap photos of wildlife. The AI of the animals is supposed to mimic that of their real world counterparts. I really like this concept. I don't really know much of what happens in the storyline for Grand Theft Auto 3 because the only thing I ever did in that game was ride my BMX around and take photos of people and places. So, I am glad to see a game that really focuses on being a photographer. The only other game I've played like this is a little free indie game called Snapshot Adventures. It was pretty fun, but the graphics weren't very good. The graphics in Afrika and Aqua are phenomenal, so I imagine these games will be loads of fun in kind of a laid back sort of way, kind of like how Pilotwings was. I always found that game very relaxing.

actually they are already out, just no US release, but luckly the ps3 is region free. Aqua ended up being called Aquanaut's Holiday and Afrika also can go by Hakuna Matata. I just ordered these last week from Play Asia

The latter East Asian version of Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories has an Engrish translation. I don't know of any plans for it to be released elsewhere, so that's probably the best option for that particular title. Haven't heard anything about the quality of either of the games, outside of a few reviews for Afrika.

There was something like this inside Beyond Good and Evil, too.

If only nickfil, if only. HOLD THE LINE.

It looks quite pretty but I want to see how it handles in realtime. A free roaming reallife Pokemon Snap sounds like a winner to me.

I am not sure how successful is a game about taking pictures on the ps3 would be
seems more like a Wii game
On the other hand the Wii graphics are not good enough for taking beautiful pictures like in the trailer
