I just wish the subject of the thread would change. Makes me cringe.

lucky. I have a Gamestop near my work, and a small hole-in-wall retro thrift store near my house. The retro place is cool, but obviously very hit or miss. I hate to say it's usually Gamestop or ebay for me!

I love the Gamecube! Always wanted one but couldn't afford it until about a year and a half ago. Since then I've collected so much stuff for it. GBA player, controller extensions, multiple matching controllers, every zelda and mario game etc etc. The funny thing is, even though I've got over 50 games and not even played some of them, there's still more that I wanna get!

My wanted list include (in no particular order)-

2x broadband adapters for 8-player mario kart if anybody knows where I can get these in the uk for a reasonable price please let me know
Pikmin 2
Killer 7
Skies of Arcadia
Ikaruga
F zero GX
Metriod Prime
Tales of Symphonia
Animal Crossing
Beyond Good & Evil
Star Wars Rogue Squadren III Rebel Strike
Time Splitters Future Perfect
Baten Kaitos
Mario Part 6 & 7
Fire Emblem
X-Men Legends II Rise of Apocalypse
Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction
Odama
Viewtiful Joe 2 & Red Hot Rumble

The gamecube was and still is awesome! This topic whould be renamed "Just how bad-ass was the Gamecube"
(GBA x4) + (MarioKart x4) = roadtrip heaven!

Like I think I said above. Basically Gamecube + GBPlayer is my system of choice these days. And GCN + GB/GBC/GBA games are pretty much all I bother collecting now.

As far as I'm concerned, a game system should be judged as a success by the unique experiences it provides. The Gamecube and the Dreamcast are successes in my eyes- they gave me exclusive games that were about fun, rather than providing players with a new way to shoot people or cast the same spells. The systems were driven by determined, talented and inspired companies that really tried to make their system a showcase. The PS2 and Xbox on the other hand, were designed by larger, more distant corperations that cared less about the user experience and more about the market trends. Usually, games made for the PS2 would sell a large ammount, be ported on the Xbox, and then copied until the trend died. The Gamecube and Dreamcast never really had this problem, so when gamers think about the sixth generation, they won't get nostalgia for the PS2 and the Xbox, nor will they fondly remember the heads they blew off in the dozens of first person shooters, and they will no longer draw pictures and nearly worship the latest emo kid from the many, many RPGs of the time. What will be remembered, however, are the Marios, the Pikmin, The Smash Bros, the Crazy Taxis, the Sonic Adventures, the Animal Crossings, the Phantasy Star Onlines, and the Shenmues that provided our wild joyrides and calm sunday afternoons, the kinds of games, the kinds of memories, that will never be forgotten. The kind of experience that made these consoles unique.

When this generation is nothing but a fragment left over from my youth, like the SNES and Genesis are to many of you, it will be apparent that when it comes to the success of a console, it has nothing to do with sales, it's about the wonderful times we had. The PS2 and Xbox could never even come close.

I agree to what the guy above me says
as a matter of fact, this is why I play games. For the unique experience.
When I played San Andreas, I was like OMG! What an amazing thing!!
I finished GTA3 and now Vice City, all great games really but same old same old.
When I played Halo 2(never did play 1) it was an amazing smashing multiplayer. We even hardly played halo3, as a matter of fact we bought a 360 and waited a whole year for the halo 3 release but then we didn't play it. Same old same old.

Does it really matter to play all the COD's? I would play all RE because each one is different in a way, but COD is like all the same(PLus RE spans over a huge graphic and gameplay types). I think nostalgia comes from unique experiences and this is why dreamcast is remember so well, there was nothing like it. It was innovative.

Does it really matter to buy the next great graphics FPS? No , because its just more and more of it, nothing unique. I bet Wii Sport will be unique.

Although Xbox and PS2 were mainstream, I think they were unique too. There was never god of war, gta3, halo , ninja gaiden before. All were new and amazing. But in this generation I do not know. We got gears, bioshock, and fable I guess.

back to main subject,I think gamecube was unique enough with its mini discs, its like the only console that ever used it

I think what was meant was that the Gamecube had a higher frequency of good games.

Also, the Dreamcast had a few demos released on mini-GD-Roms, the the Gamecube was not officially the first console to use miniature discs.
