Who remembers Chrono Resurrection? Square stomped the life out of it before we ever got to play it. I understand that companies have to protect their properties, but how is this that? Your fans are keeping your properties alive by creating these amazing projects, while you do nothing but let the series stagnate. They do this in your fucking honor. It's basically free advertising. It keeps the series name in the minds of the masses while you don't have to do anything.
Well it happened again, this time with a lowly romhack. What really pisses me off about this, is that this hack Crimson Echoes, was looking to be the most impressive hack of the rom yet. There's been countless other hacks of the game that they never minded, but this one was getting a little attention, so they flipped out. What's worse, is it was extremely close to finished, and Square waited just a few weeks before the release date to destroy it. It's like they're being as brutal as possible.
But I blame the team too. Can we PLEASE learn from this? It's not complicated. You're so fucking intelligent when it comes to coding, but you seem to lack all common sense.
STOP HYPING YOUR ILLEGAL PROJECTS!
Fucking idiots. Keep a god damned lid on your shit so that when it's finished, you can release it swiftly. Word will travel within minutes through all the blogs about a surprise new free game. These big companies may still cease and desist your ass, but at that point who cares? They can't erase the game from everyone's drives. And they surely wouldn't try to sue you in court. They'd never win. To any jury, they'd just appear like bullies, especially when it comes down to romhacks, where there is absolutely no copywrited data in the ips file you distribute.
Chrono Trigger romhack goes the way of Chrono Resurrection

Squareenix games have been lacking some serious quality as of late. Maybe if they put a little more attention into games, and less into picking on little shit they would pump out a halfway decent IP thats not a remake. Thats some shitty new though, I was looking forward to that game. And Mario Adventure is a great game, but very brutal and unforgiving. That Reality Project Super Mario World rom hack is terrific as well.

Moz is on the money. These need to be exposed once they are 100% complete and no sooner. It's hard to get excited about these projects anymore, because they get announced early on and you know they are at a huge risk because of this.
Re: Chrono Trigger romhack goes the way of Chrono Resurrection
Some people said they were working on this romhack for 5 years. God this is horribly depressing. This industry pisses me off.
Shit like this makes me wonder where Nintendo was when Mother 3 got translated. They didn't seem to mind at all. In fact, didn't the translation team contact Nintendo? I don't see Namco causing a shitstorm over games like Tales of Phantasia getting translated multiple times. And what about Atlus with Persona 2 Innocent Sin, huh? They didn't mind.
So what makes Square such a prick company?

I was under the impression that Square has always been a bit of a prick company.

I was so enraged when I read the news. Ridiculous. They should just complete the game and release it illegally. If it were me, I would even put a message in the ROM telling Square to go suck several dicks.

There's a 60% chance that the sentiments expressed in the above post are not sincere, and the insincerity of said statements is proportional to the perceived retardation of the sentiment, and inversely proportional to the intelligence of the reader should he or she find the sentiment less than intelligent.

Yeah, it is really weird. I also wonder why they never came down on all the SNES-era translation patches. Once the patch is out there it's a waste of time to try and shut it down, but I'm sure they could have tried to block Bahamut Lagoon, for example. It seems the only things they've gone after a new game that uses the old IP/assets.Mozgus wrote:Some people said they were working on this romhack for 5 years. God this is horribly depressing.
