Search the technical help, hacks and mods and the sony and microsoft boards. There's been plenty of discussion on CFW with how and why you should do it to your PSP.

In fact I think it should really be stickied, or at least it should feature as an article on the main site. Especially since it's related to retrograming (regarding emulators).

Plus, it would be far more coherent than what you get through some casual googlefu.

Also what I said in Flak's recent PSP CFW thread... I found it kinda hard to find info that was NOT outdated or not written up by a complete idiot that will label you a "n00b" if you don't understand it.

Right, well I'll work on writing a guide tomorrow, I need to get my PSP up to date with the latest CFW etc anyway.

Any special requests on how to get certain features working just reply in this thread.

I'd definately target at least a portion to the guy who just bought a new PSP Slim and doesn't know any buddies with a hacked PSP.

Don't have much experience with the PSP Slim, I'll have a go though.

Unfortunately my PSP appears to have given up the ghost. It's not charging or turning on or anything. It's been sat in my cupboard untouched for months and it was working when I put it there. I'm hoping it's the charger that's broke, I've just bought another one and we'll see when it comes.

Godamnit Sony, why is all your hardware absolutely fucking shit?

Here's a list of Sony products that have broken on me over the years. Sony Trinitron (within 18months, tube died), Sony CD player (within 18 months, stopped reading discs), MD recorder (within 12 months, stopped reading/recording), netMD (within 12 months interface buttons stopped responding), PS2 (stopped reading all discs, even after laser clean), PS2 Slim (started making strange noises within weeks, took it back for replacement), PS1 (stopped reading discs).

The only thing left is my PS3... I can't wait until that starts to give up the ghost

You might turn around and say that I treat my stuff like shit, I don't. My PSP is kept in a hard protective case when not in use and stored in my cupboard. All my consoles stay in one place and all in mint condition, same with the other appliances, they have never been abused and all the optical units have clean discs used on them. Dirty discs go nowhere near my stuff.

I hope Sony bow out of the video game industry this generation. Just so I don't have to be compelled to buy any of their shoddy products ever again.

I'm pretty sure the charger is dead since I can't run the PSP at all. Not even with the mains (which works even when you don't have a battery in the unit).

This is probably a stupid question, but about the aforementioned homebrew program that allows you to display your psp on your computer screen; does it also work with model 1 PSPs?
