Yeah, don't worry, there are a ton of films I didn't include. My lack of Indiana Jones and classic James Bond films should also disappoint you. There are tons of suggestions I could have made, and the list was already getting pretty long.

It might be pretty funny for me to do a list of must-see East Asian films. Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky? Oh yes.

Hey Jrecee, when you say "The Machinest", do you mean the 2004 film with Christian Bale, El Maquinista?

If it is, I've seen all but three on that list...

The Machinist was entertaining but it suffered from the Matrix's legacy (ie Lawrence Fishburne's Morpheus-like character)..

If you're looking for movie lists, asking point blank what people would suggest is less useful than just looking up lists on the web unless more is known about you and your tastes. Personally, I'd start with a site like metacritic over something like RottenTomatoes (which scores on a more of a thumbs up or thumbs down system, which gives a better indication of what's enjoyable than what approaches a masterpiece). IMDB is so user focused that some great movies invariably get lower scores than more approachable movies (though it isn't that much of a stretch from professional critics regardless).

As for movies, I'd need a better idea of what you enjoy before I could give any meaningful recommendations. The qualifier of "good film" is fair enough, but it won't get me any closer to thinking of recommendations outside of randomly picking good movies. There are so many it would be exasperating to pick and choose without direction (and some really do come down to personal taste). And exhaustive lists come with the caveat of only having so much time to watch them all and no direction as to what order to watch them.

Favorite genres, favorite time periods, favorite movies? Narrow a few down and I can probably recommend quite a bit.

^ Good point.. There's no single movie that's a must-watch for every human being out there. Well, maybe a few

Yeah, true. Just give us a category and we'll see what we can do. Samurai films, gangster movies, film noir, action films, science fiction, horror, whatever you like. If you're interested in a particular decade, we can do that too(such as, say you wanted 1940s horror films, I'd point you to Val Lewton in a heart beat).
