I have done modding with fat PS2 and not much on slim.. I find it easy with fat PS2. I have used the swap magic method to play my imports.. 8)

Have you actually cut a lid to swap the disc? That is what I am thinking of trying.

I don't see any reason to do it yourself. There's no way to cut it up that won't make it look like ass, just buy a different case or just a keycard.

My biggest worry is constantly opening and closing drawer on my fat. I thought this would be better for it. Not really worried about cometics though. Has anyone ever wore out a drawer like this?

just buy a slimline and change the case on it. I have one in a clear case and with the lid open theres a switch to stop and start the disc.

Slimlines are pennies now.

Well, if you've bought the flip top lid already, you might as well use it.

As far as the "drawer", I'm assuming you're talking about the original slide out tray. Technically, you'll never have to use it ever again; just open the lid, put in swap magic, then turn it on. Then open the lid again and swap.

The lid install is relatively easy. The spring loaded memory card slots were kind of a pain to deal with, but you'll be fine.

Ahh, this brings back fond memories... I performed the operation when Treasure box (Treasure collection) came out. This was back when an import machine was still a few hundred bucks. Nowadays, I wouldn't mind just owning a Japanese machine. The slims are sexy.
