Neo-Geo Options
I'm considering getting a Neo-Geo MVS, but since it's an obscene amount of money to get a consolized one, I was wondering if it would just be cheaper to get an arcade monitor rather than having to make a cable that connects to a standard TV. What should I do for the cheapest option? The arcade monitor solution was one not discussed in the Neo-Geo options article on the main Racketboy site, so I thought I should ask here.
Re: Neo-Geo Options
Arcade monitors are going to cost you more than a consolized MVS. I've never seen a proper arcade monitor for less than £200.
Consolizing an MVS isn't particularly difficult if you follow a guide. There are plenty of guides on the net. There's quite a few threads regarding consolizing on this very forum. (hint: look in the 'other platforms' sub-forum).

Re: Neo-Geo Options
I would say MVS would be much cheaper route to go for having a Neo-Geo since AES carts are really expensive and so is the console.. plus MVS are carts are not nearly as pricey last I checked..

AES plus MVS converter will only run about $300-350.
You can then upgrade your AES over time with:
Unibios.
Video upgrades.
Audio upgrades.

I bought a 30$ rgb to s-video converter board and used a soldering iron and there you go

Just get you a 2 slot MVS board and consolize it, it already has the controller inputs on it which makes life so much easier. Here are some guides that are very easy to follow for either 1 slot or 2 slot, but I definately recommend the 2 slot for ease.

MVS are somewhat cheaper, but still expensive compared to other vintage games, they range from 15 (Samurai Showdown) to 500 (Nightmare in the Dark)Dakinggamer87 wrote: plus MVS are carts are not nearly as pricey last I checked..
Re: Neo-Geo Options
CMVS is just a tad higher than an home system. It's a choice you need to think about.
I'm glad a have a home system, but i have way more MVS carts.

Yes, getting a CMVS is about the same price point as an AES, but you save money in the long run on carts.
