GameStop to cease selling/trading GBA, GCN. and PS2.

Hopefully this will lead to some great clearance sales eventually
Re: GameStop to cease selling/trading GBA, GCN. and PS2.
It appears Game have begun selling their PS2 games off dirt cheap. They don't have a 'New PS2' Section anymore, they don't even stock the consoles. I think they've also stickered all their PS2 inventory as used even if it's new. I got quite a haul from there yesterday.
Quite a few of those games were brand new, IE Jak X, The Warriors and Dragon Ball Z Budokai. The others were in surprisingly good condition for used titles (I assumed they were used since they were quite old titles).
I think I'm going to be checking Game out more and more over the coming weeks as they try and shift their PS2 inventory. It's like Dreamcast in 2001 all over again. I got so many great games for the DC during that period as retailers started to shift stock seemingly at any cost (we're talking £1.99 for PSO depths of desperation here).

I know I went and checked the ps2 and gc sections at mine weeks ago and couldnt find a single game I wanted. I guess any clearance sales in the future will be pointless to me.

I'm shocked about the GCN games as well, you would think GS would be pushing them big time considering all the cash they get in used games. Espeically now that Nintendo is doing that "New Play Control!" series they could be offering customers with the original Game Cube alternative.Mozgus wrote:What bullshit. I understand that most PS3s cant play PS2 games, and the newest DS cant play GBA, but Wii can play all GCN titles perfectly. Why drop them? How about you educate the majority of the Wii owners who don't even realize their machines will play these games? Put that shit in your terrible ads, and watch your Gamecube shelves get a massive attention boost. Is it really too fucking complicated?
Guess I better pick up Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Eternal Darkness...

Damn! And here I thought the UK & Europe were usually last to get generational losses.Niode wrote:It appears Game have begun selling their PS2 games off dirt cheap. My new plan is to buy as many brand new PS2's, memoy cards and controllers as possible, along with any game that I've had even a remote interest in, so I can still play PS2 a few years from now when the drives etc.. start failing.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Re: GameStop to cease selling/trading GBA, GCN. and PS2.
I've always wondered why the GameCube games and the Wii games aren't in the same aisle. (like for Xbox and 360 games) If anyone has any questions as to why they're in the same aisle, put up a sign saying GC games can be played on the Wii.Mozgus wrote:How about you educate the majority of the Wii owners who don't even realize their machines will play these games?
As for GameSlop not selling GBA/PS2/GC games, I'm surprised that this hasn't happened sooner. Sony cut BC worth giving a shit about back in '07 and I doubt that most Wii owners even know what a Game Cube is. I guess Nintendo taking the GBA slot out of the DS (which is really damn stupid if you ask me) is what brought GS to clear out their stock.
I guess now is a good time to pick up a Game Cube. (and get some used games before the mod chip arrives)

For some reason there are 3 Gamestops here. Hopefully there will be some good deal to be had at them.
Re: GameStop to cease selling/trading GBA, GCN. and PS2.
Truthfully, every few weeks or so I go and scour the bins at my local Gamestops. There's a few games that I still see that I'd like, but every time, the selection is less and less, which really doesn't surprise me. I wonder what the prices will be like in another few months for PS2 titles.
I suppose it's time we start writing PS2 articles here.
