Movie (must see)'s

Post by RCBH928 »

Hello
When ever I feel like watching a movie I have a problem picking one up from the store. Usually people picks whatever is new. I prefer to do the opposite, I prefer to see what is the best from the past , this way I do not have to face garbage of today.

Researching good movies is not that difficult, its either so famous you heard of or they are academy award winning movies. In other ways you can search rotten tomatoes or internet movie database. There is also the top 100 movies of all time from the American Film academy or something like that.
Here is the problem...

Those top movies are rated on everything and hence giving fun movies low ratings. I am searching for movies that had great cultural impact , something popular in pop culture?
You can't search for movies of this kind unless some one tells you about it. Its like the Terminator or Johnny Mnemonic I guess.

Can you help me build a list of movies that if I told you I did not see that movie you will go like "SERIOUSLY? EVERYBODY watched that movie"...it would be kind of nice thanx in advance.

On a side note: Since we are talking TV entertainment, I do not understand how it goes in America but I was watching The Riches and it just appealed to me and I heard it got canceled. How you can cancel a show? How are we supposed to see the end? Plus I do not know how it got canceled when total crap shows are still on.

Welcome to the world of tv. Don't bother investing too much in a show until it gets renewed for a second season. And even then, be happy with how season 1 ended, because season 2 might not have an ending at all.

The Riches is actually getting a feature film as it's conclusion, in the meantime I suggest checking out Breaking Bad on AMC. It has the same style of train wreck/dark comedy and never fails at feeling slick and polished.

Breaking Bad is the best series on television right now. Probably my 2nd favorite ever (after the Shield).

Tv pisses me off with stuff like that. i'm still waiting for the remaining Pushing Daisies episodes to air in the us while trying to avoid spoilers because they've been showing them in Germany.

If you want a movie with cultural impact then watch Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Haha, Bill & Ted's rules. Best acting from Keanu Reeves ever.

I feel the same way about TV. Generally I don't even watch a show until it's cancelled and on DVD. These days all I'm really watching is DBZ, The Daily Show, and Voyager. I may pick up Battlestar Galactica when I'm through with Voyager. (not even going to bother with Enterprise, yech!)
