Trouble loading roms with Neo DS. (black top screen) plzhelp

Im trying to run the Neo DS emulator on a cylo ds evolution cart. I have the roms converted and in the root folder along with the neogeo.neo file and the emulator file. The emu starts up just fine but when i try to load a rom from the list the top screen on the nintendo ds remains black. Can anyone help me?

Hmm....
Aren't there two types of Neo-Geo ROMs? like one for MAME and one for NEO emus? I'm a little fuzzy in this area -- maybe someone else can chime in...

thx for the reply. im using actual aes roms i think or maybe mvs. but then if its mvs would that count as mame because those are snk arcade roms? you wrote a great article on the neo ds. what did you use?

MVS and AES are the exact same thing. They just have a different pinout to prevent people from using one on the other (enter the converter) and they receive a different boot signal that launches them in MVS mode or AES mode. That's why the Unibios on the AES lets you run in arcade mode, and why people can rip the EPROM out of a cheap MVS cart and put it into an AES cart to give you a cheap alternative to spending $1000 on Metal Slug AES.

As for different roms for MAME and other Neo Geo emus, I did some quick googling and a lot of the Neo emulators for the PC will emulate more than the Neo. So I'd say that no, there's not two different ROMs. It's probably something wrong with your Neo DS install or your directory structure.
