I think I am an addict......
Ok, i am sitting here at work and I got to thinking about my collection, mainly my Neo Geo collection. And how much its all really worth and how much i have spent in the last 2 1/2 months on it. After some research I have gathered that my Neo Collection is roughly worth $5500. So I searched through old paypal invoices and emails to gather how much I have spent on that collection in the last 2 1/2 months and its roughly in the $4800 range. I told my brother (aka mustardseed) and he said "Dude your an addict" . And so i thought about it and I feel I am now also LOL...

I know how you feel.
Well not to the sense of $4800 in 2 1/2 months but I know how you feel. I sit in front of a computer all day long. And just like the scene in Office Space I really only do about 15 minutes of "real solid work". The rest of the time I surf Ebay and for the price of a cup of coffee I can get a video game each day.
I even know when the mailman comes. And since my wife is a homemaker she will email me what I got in the mail that day. And if I don't get a game the rest of my day feels like crap. I even come home and double check the mail just to make sure.
But when I recieve a game in the mail I have a kind of ritual. I check the case and remove all stickers, test it for about 5 minutes, then file it away for another day. I then sit down and look at my collection and recap to myself what game I should expect tomorrow.
So ... I know how you feel.

THAT IS FREAKING FUNNY DUDE! That is my day and life to a T, My wife asks me everyday with a rolling of the eyes, "are you supposed to be getting a package today?"

I think most of us online on retro forums are this way though $ amounts vary we all love to brows, buy and wait for the mailman
I know how you feel though kingdom I've dropped damn near a grand this month on non neo geo games and since I started buying neo geo aes/mvs 6 months ago I've blown 2200 or so and no sign of it stopping. Spent a few hundred bucks on my ngpc collection a year or two back as well. Oh and I bought a new recently to. I think I may need to check myself (and my Warcrack addict brother) into that gaming addiction clinic in denmark! (then again we'd probably come back addicted to drugs and hookers!)

If you haven't yet you should look into insurance for it
Re: I think I am an addict......
To be fair, addiction is really continuing a behavior in the face of overwhelming negative consequences. If you're buying a ton of games, but you can afford it and it doesn't impact your relations with others, then you're not addicted, you're just enjoying your hobby.

you got a point, as long as bills get paid , my kids have food, clothes, toys and my wife has her stuff then i shouldn't stress about it. Its when I buy a 200 dollar game instead of paying the light bill is when its not healthy
