My first console was the NES in about '88 and then we got a SNES for Christmas a few years later. Skipped over N64 (though a friend lent me his to play Zelda, and I used UltraHLE to play Mario64). Got a GameCube about a year after release for smash brothers and monkey ball. Got a Wii about a year after release, and love it. Unfortunately, I let my NES go one time when I needed the $100, and the games went along with it. Otherwise, I still enjoy all of my consoles very much.

Got NES Christmas of '85 I believe.
Received various replacement NES's over the years, didn't get a new system until '98 when I got an snes.
Been collecting all the stuff I wanted as a child since 2002.

atari2600
nes/famiclone
genesis
saturn
psone
dreamcast
ps2
gamecube
360

is more or less my current list of systems. I think I have most generations represented.

So from gen 2 on

I think my first game was Balloon Fight on an NES. Not sure though. I do know that I had an Atari 2600 that I played around with but I never took gaming seriously until I got an NES. I think score based games weren't enough to hook me on gaming. When I got an NES, I played Super Mario Bros. and Double Dragon. These had stories and they had an actual end point where the game and the story ended. That's what hooked me. Score based games alway seemed so pointless.

The NES took me from a mild interest and curiousity about gaming, to actually taking it seriously. From then on, all my gaming took place on the NES. There was a local rental place I visited constantly. That place was like a magic wonderland to me at that age. Always a new game to try. I was so much less jaded back then. Miss those times sometimes. Was a sad reality check when that place closed down. Part of my childhood died. Anyway, occasionally I would go to a neighbor's house to play his Colecovision. It was more out of curiosity then anything. The Nintendo had gotten so popular and I was always like, "what the hell is this Colecovision thing?".

After that, I eventually got a Genesis, then later an S-NES and I got a Gameboy at some point but I have no idea when. Eventually sold it though, as console gaming just held more of my interest than portable gaming at the time. Then came Playstation, and eventually an N64 after they became cheap, which I bought solely for Starfox 64. It was that awesome. Didn't even really give a crap about Mario and Zelda at the time.

When the Dreamcast came out, I got one not too long after its launch with Sonic Adventure. At the time, Sonic in 3-d seemed like the coolest thing ever...and look where the franchise is now. Sigh. Anyway, I seriously loved my Dreamcast. Re-united my passion for gaming for a time. Eventually I got a PS2, Xbox, Gamecube. Probably in that order. Then at some point I went retro and got a Saturn off ebay and later would come the 360 and a PSP and DS just recently

I also dabbled in PC gaming during the PS 1 days, but never got too much into it despite playing a few stellar titles and that's still pretty much true now. I have very fond memories of Starcraft and Star Wars:Tie Fighter though and I was blown away by the Rebel Assault games even though they kind of played like shit.
