The selection, and convenience of being able to get it right away without havg to wait for shipping is what I see really driving our New/return customers.Jrecee wrote:Why do people still buy new games from gamestop? Go to bestbuy/walmart/target/kmart/playntrade/anywhere else.

I just bought a "new" Retro Game Challenge for DS from gamestop today, bent up manual, rips in the plastic, and dents all over in the cover. Of course the game was opened up and stuck in one of those stupid sleeves. It looked like one of the employees had taken the game home and "tested" it out.

Hey now don't take it out on me, I only check out used games if I ever checkout anything at all, New games are for buying not renting/whoreing out.
Most stores will give you a Shopworn Discount of 10% upon request if the game/case looks like it went through Nam'.

All those are brick and mortar stores that you can walk into. . . no shipping. And every bestbuy I've ever been to has just as good a selection of new games as gamestop. In fact they usually have better sales on the games too. If you want used games and you don't have a play n trade nearby, then you're stuck with gamestop though.
And I hope you returned that nintendo ds game. . .

I cannot reconcile treating games horribly with the picture you've painted above.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:But it's not all that bad, like how she's got two of every system and game she's ever bought (One opened the other Sealed, Including an AES), an imported SF:IV cab, is letting us ditch GS:TV and make our own DVD's with game trailers, walkthroughs, and clips, and is letting us personalize our store by putting up old game posters and ads (Super Metroid Coming Fall 95' FTW).
Also, I need to steal that Super Metroid poster.

I agree that it's an unforgiveable gamer crime, but like I said I take my time and make sure as many as possible don't have the stickers actually stuck to the spine.MrPopo wrote:I cannot reconcile treating games horribly with the picture you've painted above.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:But it's not all that bad, like how she's got two of every system and game she's ever bought (One opened the other Sealed, Including an AES), an imported SF:IV cab, is letting us ditch GS:TV and make our own DVD's with game trailers, walkthroughs, and clips, and is letting us personalize our store by putting up old game posters and ads (Super Metroid Coming Fall 95' FTW).

Personally though I make it my policy to leave the sticker on it's paper backing so GS's real customers can slide the stickers right off.
@ enderfall: I'm actually about to post up a guide on how to get GS stickers off without any gunk, or how to get the gunk off if one tears.
Some of the good employees at my gamestop do this too.. . They just put the sticker between the plastic and the cover of the game, but leave the backing of the sticker on. This way you just lift the plastic up and the sticker falls out.
