GS stores spine stickering new games and cases.
In a clear violation of company policy, consumer confidence, and all around jackassery our new manager at our GS has ordered us to sticker all/most of our gutted and sealled new games on the spine (sealed games will remain sealed of course) to speed up our inventory processes. Now apparently a lot of the GS stores in my area (NC) have begun to do this, along with other stores across numerous districts without reprocussion from the heads at the corporate offices due to the district managers keeping it on the hush. So I thought I'd tell you guys so that we could help get the word out to the gamer community and hopefully get GS to take a little notice that it's beginning to really piss some of us off with the mismanagement that it's stores are getting away with.

Re: GS stores spine stickering new games and cases.
My local GS has been doing this for a while now. The store opened probably 14 months ago, and may have began this practive the day the doors opened.
I do have to say that I haven't had much trouble removing these labels on the copies that I've bought. In fact, I find it easier to remove because the sticker doesn't have a perfectly flat surface to stick too. The only issue has been the glue leftover, which isn't all that bad considering...
But yes, all these stickers are quite annoying!

Seriously Mod_Man_Extreme, quit your job. Have you no shame?

Sadly there's not a whole lot than can be done about this. Companies like GS are jackasses all the way to the top, and unless people suddenly stop buying from them (which won't happen) they don't give a flying fuck how badly their customers are getting screwed.

I buy my games sealed off ebay or the locked shelf in walmart.

Oh I do have shame, but I like having a paycheck better.
Personally though I make it my policy to leave the sticker on it's paper backing so GS's real customers can slide the stickers right off.
@ enderfall: I'm actually about to post up a guide on how to get GS stickers off without any gunk, or how to get the gunk off if one tears.

I could understand selling yourself out for a real paycheck, but for a gamestop sized paycheck....come on man. You're better than that (well, most likely. I guess I don't know you all that well, but I'll just assume)Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Oh I do have shame, but I like having a paycheck better.

Agreed. Anyone can do better than that. Fast food work is way more respectable than Gamestop.dlmvii wrote:I could understand selling yourself out for a real paycheck, but for a gamestop sized paycheck....come on man. Why do people still buy new games from gamestop? Go to bestbuy/walmart/target/kmart/playntrade/anywhere else.

Re: GS stores spine stickering new games and cases.
Well our GS was one of the good ones that gets into trouble with corporate a lot for ignoring sticker rules, getting to know our regulars etc... up until two weeks ago when they axed our manager. Now we're stuck with this old broad (She's seriously like 65) who's going to coach our store on "Correct policy and management". But it's not all that bad, like how she's got two of every system and game she's ever bought (One opened the other Sealed, Including an AES), an imported SF:IV cab, is letting us ditch GS:TV and make our own DVD's with game trailers, walkthroughs, and clips, and is letting us personalize our store by putting up old game posters and ads (Super Metroid Coming Fall 95' FTW).
The only things I really take issue with is how our customers aren't getting the service they deserve and were used to, and how our new products are being treated.
