Plus, the controls sucked pretty bad on the PS2. That and the fact they didn't make it for gamecube seemed quite the foolish move considering it prolly would've been the most succesful on it.
I think making a GC version would've been a waste of money to be honest. I don't think it mattered where the game went it's just an odd game.

yes but more games that are odd are more popular on the GCN. Think viewtiful Joe, pikmin, the tak games, etc. It's just a console which had more open minded people buying it, considering they didn't have to worry about buying something purple. Hell, I think beyond good and evil did the best on the cube sales wise.

The industry doesn't really know what's good for it. Jak & Daxter 738 will always sell boatloads, but brilliantly well-written dialogue does not make game sales.

Despite Psychonauts being adored by critics and Schafer fans alike, it sold pretty badly. Jaws Unleashed sold triple the amount, which is a goddamned travesty.

Everything about Psychonauts exudes high-production values. Every level is completely and utterly different from the one before it, the art design is absolutely stunning at times, and the voice acting is incredible. In an industry that constantly praises cheesy voice acting and throw-away dialogue (hi, Metal Gear Solid), this really shines.

Admittedly, it's a bit of a collect-a-thon at times. The gameplay doesn't reinvent the wheel... But it's so unique and downright different from everything else, at least stylistically, that I can't help but love it.

I blame their publisher Majesco for Psychonauts' commercial failure. They really didn't give the game any press, there may have been an odd add in a magazine here and there, but I only really noticed that AFTER the game was released. I don't really understand how they botched it up so bad.

As for the Gamecube, I don't know about more open minded people buying it, I would say these people are the "Balanced" gamer, people who enjoy mostly everything on every console and could give a damn really where things go, but only want good games to play. Unfortunatly there are very few people like this, most people who owned a GC were Nintendo fanboys and are very closed minded to other things if anything. Keep in mind this is just what I experience, I've always kind of lived in a Nintendo dominated part of the country.[/i]
