Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Come on man, just one fix... I need some gamer crack

Post by J T »

I bought Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved recently. Best 4 bucks I ever spent. I love it because it allows me to play the game in short bursts on my laptop. I can crack it open and get a quick game in while I wait for somebody, go on a short bus ride, etc. This game is perfect for that kind of thing because there's no real storyline, the game throws you immediately into the action, and unless you're super good, your game probably won't last more than a few minutes. It's totally gamer crack.

I'm wondering if you all have any recommendations for other games that can be enjoyable in short little bursts like Geometry Wars is. Any suggestions?

lol Just recently I got the DS and Wii version of Geometry Wars Galaxies. It's just so beautiful on the Wii.

There are tons of games like that. Where do you think Geometry Wars it's style from? Ever played Asteroids or Space Invaders or any other arcade game similar?

Polarium, Meteos, Feel the Magic XX/XY, Rub Rabbits, Pokemon Trozei ("Pokemon Trozei, Four in a row and you're ready to go!"), Planet Puzzle League, Ultimate Shooter Collection, most SHMUP's, Lightgun games, Ape Escape, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter 1/2/Remix, most Arcade Fighters, Panzer Dragoon games, Klonoa games, Castlevania games, and the Wave Race series.

These are all games I find I can sit down and play for five minutes, or five hours.

You probably will like Echoes as well. It is a freeware game, good quality. I think I mentioned here in the boards a while ago and then Racketboy made a short article on it.

I have, and love, DS version - the dpad and touch screen work so damn well. How do the controls on the wii work?

its dead cheap nowadays and I'm thinking it might be worth it anyway since it unlocks more content on the DS.
