So as far as X-Men comics go...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

ha. i was going to say the same thing, but didn't know if it was just because i was a kid then. I didn't know if the rosey tint of nostalgia was warping my vision.

Some of that stuff is a little hard to get into for newer readers because the color is so dated, but you can't go wrong with those xmen stories. Dark pheniox saga, god loves man kills, days of future past, x-cutioners song, the jim lee reboot of xmen, Age of Apocalypse..... such fantastic stuff.

nickfil wrote:Weapon X by barry winsor-smith. A little more dated, but you'll find it is worth the read. I think it still holds up. It is about when wolverine got his metal skeleton and memory implants/alterations put in by the government. Bascially trying to turn him into less of a man and more of a weapon. It does this in a really beauitful way that neither the movie or game did. A bloodbath of a book where you never know if wolverine is aware of his actions or biding his time to excape or is under complete control. Really fantastic.
Weapon X is probably my favourite comics ever! The whole thing was written, inked and coloured by Barry Windsor-Smith. It's an absolute masterpiece. There are entire pages that go by without any dialogue and it still manages to tell a story that's so compelling it's hard to put down. Brilliant stuff.

I also followed the whole Age of Apocalyse saga when it came out. It's a lot more elaborate storytelling wise, but you can buy all eight separate lines in 'gold' covered albums to make a fairly complete story. Since it all goes down in a seperate parallel universe it has a clear start and end. They comics you'd need are titled X-Calibre, Gambit and the X-Ternals, Generation X, Amazing X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Weapon X, Factor X and X-Man. You'll almost certainly require X-Men: Alpha that tells the beginning and X-Men: Omega that tells the end. Finally there is the (what I would regard as optional) X-Universe that tells a bit about what the heroes get up to.
(GBA x4) + (MarioKart x4) = roadtrip heaven!

Why did every single one of you assume I was dealing with paper versions? I thought I made it obvious enough in the first post. You guys, see, there's these things called jpegs...

Also I'm broke as fuck, and won't be buying any non-essential things for a few months. I may even have to move and lose internet for a while so I'm basically stockpiling entertainment while I can.

I don't know man- pirate video games sure. It is a digital medium. But pirating books, comics or otherwise just seems like you are robbing yourself of the experience. You know, in my opinion. I know a couple people that do it and swear by it though.

Still- if you find torrents for the stuff i recommended, i still recommend them.

I read through GUNNM and most of Berserk this way without issue. I find it superior to books. I hate fucking around with pages.

This cracks me up dude. I picture a very infomercial moment of you just not being able to deal with a book. It just being too unwieldy for you to handle with a voiceover that says "do you hate fucking around with pages?"

Look for trades of the stories that interest you at amazon, usually it'll say something like "Collects Uncanny XMen from #### to ####, Xforce from ###, ##" and so on, you could go from there

I could probably sell a kindle. I seriously hate having to hold a book. Its distracting to me. And pages in damn near anything give me a headache very quickly. With a nice LCD screen, I can read something endlessly.

This is the next product to be acquired after real books become insufficient for our needs.
