Collecting PS1 fighters

Post by halosoul »

I've been collecting One-on-One fighting games for various systems for quite some time now and have amassed a rather large collection. At present I'm looking to wrap up my collecting and wanted to take this opportunity to share my collection and ask if there's any other games out there that are worth playing.

I have a kind of criteria that dictates what I buy, but the overall thing that I try to stick to is to get games that are worth playing. I don't just collect for the sake of it and have tried to focus on the best games for the systems I collect for.

As you will be able to see though by the list there are still a few less than stellar titles in my collection that I have acquired over the years.

I'm focusing on PS1 games for this post, but also collect for Saturn, Dreamcast and PS2 mainly but also for a few others to a lesser extent such as GB, GBC, GBA, PSP, Mega Drive, SNES, Xbox, N64 and Gamecube.

You may notice that a few obvious titles may missing from this list, more than likely because I have them on other systems, for example if a game's available for Saturn or Dreamcast, I'l more than likely have that version as a preference.

I collect PAL releases primarily but I do have a boot disc for PS1 and a few Japanese games, so any Japanese only or American release suggestions are more than welcome,

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing what you come up with!

Mortal Kombat Trilogy if you have the original PS1 because it will freeze on you with the PS2 after you end your game.

Bushido Blade 1 & 2

And to clarify the XMen Academy games. Not the Capcom Marvel, XMen, or vs games. You want those for the Saturn only.

Cheers!

Deffo gotta get hold of Tobal 2, got all the Alphas and Capcom X-Men games for Saturn, nearly forgot bout those X-Men Academy fighters, from what I've read I'll get the second one.

I did have Mortal Kombat trilogy at one point, but a long time ago, think I remember giving it away actually! Is it a lot better than having the separate releases do you know? Cause I was looking to get 1 & 2 on the Mega Drive or Snes.

Am I right in thinking Psychic Force 2 is the same as the Dreamcast release Psychic Force 2012? as I've got that one. Thanks again for the pointers!

It is because it combines them all in one plus you get extra charactures ... Now I don't know if the Saturn version is better this time. I have the MKII and MKIII port and MKII is a joke. But to complete my collection the Trilogy for the Saturn is still on my list ...

Cool, cheers for that. Sounds like that's the one to go for as far as Mortal Kombat goes on the Playstation.

You interested in collecting PS1 fighters, eh? I've got something for you, though keep in mind this is mostly divided between NTSC-J and NTSC-U games, so you'll have to search to see if there are PAL versions. There may be a couple of duplicates on this list under different names, and I can't tell you if this is everything, but take a look and let me know if it's missing something. I can't vouch for the quality of the games on this list, by the way.

As far as I know, this is it for the console. Oh, and after looking it up, Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force is apparently a beat 'em up, not a versus fighter. If you're still interested in it, check it out, but it's not exactly what you're looking for.
