Sega CD sound quality vs Sega 32X?

This may seem like a stupid question especially considering how long I've been playing on Sega hardware but here goes. I have a Model 2 Sega Genesis with both a Sega CD Model 2 and a 32X attached. Now I have the RCA (red, white, and yellow) connectors running out of my 32X to the TV but I've heard that the sound quality was better from the Sega CD. Before I run out and buy a set of audio cables to hook my Sega CD to my sound system I was wondering if anyone has had any real world experience with this and can vouch for it actually being the better way to do business or would I be better off just leaving the setup as is for now?

In my experience the direct audio out on the back of the Sega CD provides an exceptionally clean and consistent enhancement to the audio if you're using a Stereo, Hi-fi or Surround system for your audio. If the only speakers you use are the ones built into your TV then simply keep it hooked up through the AV cable.
