Best NON SAVING games for NES, GB & GBA ?

Post by okonomiyaki »

So I have an old GBA flash cartridge which no longer saves - but I can write games to it just fine.

I figured that there are a ton of games that we all used to play like crazy which never required saving - so it's not like this flash cart is totally useless now. Plus, this would be perfect for games that used passwords to record your progress.

I'd like to come up with a list of excellent games for Gameboy Advance, NES, Gameboy mono that don't require saving so I can make an excellent game compilation on this non-saving flash cart.

Any advice? I'd like there to be a good set of deep games (like the Megaman series) as well as good pickup-and-play games (like Balloon Fight).

Right off the top of my head I would say:

GBA
Gradius Generations

NES
Super Mario Bros. 3
Balloon Fight
Megaman series

Gameboy Mono
Alleyway
Super Mario Land

thanks!

River City Ransom had a password. Bionic Commando has no way to save at all. That's just the first two that came to mind.

Metroid is password-only. Faxanadu also uses passwords.

The batteries in the flash carts are replaceable. I got my replacement battery at Radio Shack. They are fairly easy to replace as well depending on the cart. If your not that ambitous Kid Icarus, Castlevania 1,2,3, Ninja Gaiden 1,2,3 and all the Mega Mans are password as well.

I've got a Flash2Advance 256 card. And to my knowledge, there's no easy way to replace the batter - - unless you know something I dont?

I have a EZ Flash IV Powerstar 512mb and 256mb. They have a clear case so replacement is quite easy. I'm not familiar with your model, sorry.

NES:
Bubble Bobble - Password
Snow Bros - Password

NES - No save:
Jackal
Dr Mario
Kart Fighter
Recca 92

More as they come to me. Just say away from Bubble Bobble on the GBA - damn buggy titles.
