And ginger ale is an important mixer for many drinks, so having it around is multi-functional.

We buy the cheese pre-sliced for crackers and my son likes to snack on those. As long as he doesn't hold them in his hand long enough to soften them from the heat they don't make things messy.

...handheld stuff w/wrappers are my go to, things like granola bars and etc. Baked goods in ziploc bags can work too and while very enjoyable, usually aren't best the choice lol.

...edit: thinking it over, peanut butter pretzel nuggets are really good too.
