Shoot, you've got a problem with juice? I've never heard of that. Milk screws with me like there's no tomorrow, but juice has been good to me since day one. I'm knocking back some cranberry as I type this.corn619 wrote:Vejita, for a girl you have some mighty large hands!! Just kiddin, but theres something about cider and or juice that gives me the puddle poops. As a matter of fact we had a casual poll at work a few months ago and a lot of men have a problem digesting juice and cider properly. Woman don't seem to have this problem for some reason. How about you, any problems in this area or am I alone on this? That bottle is awesome though.

Re: Gaymers
Juice goes right through me for some reason. It sucks, because I like juice too. I would have to suspect the overabundance of sugars that might be part of my problem.

Damn, Ack, I could never be you. I go through two gallons of milk a week by myself.Ack wrote:Shoot, you've got a problem with juice? I've never heard of that. You from the land of ciders, right?Niode wrote:I prefer real cider and perry. Fuck that chemical shit like magners/bulmers/gaymers etc. It tastes rank. It's like drinking fizzy bleach.
Give me a Westons Country Perry any day.
What do you think of Blackthorn Cider?
I used to sell it when I worked for a microbrew/import beer distributer back in '06. We sold it (and much of it) as so-called "real cider" because compared to what is common here in The States,(Woodchuck, etc) it actually is. I sold a couple kegs a week of that stuff to this Irish pub on Notre Dame campus, among many other accounts in Indiana that sold it. Judging by the looks of the too-sexy packaging and just the mass quantities of it they claimed to sell over there... I knew it had to be mass-produced swill that probably isn't really respected back home. (by the cider culture)
I thought is was pretty decent compared to the bullshit that is common around here. It is hard to find ciders like the one pictured above.
Re: Gaymers
Blackthorn is common as muck in this country. It's literally the 'Budweiser' of ciders (I'm not talking about real Budvar either here).
I hate any mass produced alcoholic drink. If I'm drinking it's got to be all natural, that processed shit does something rotten to my stomach. I'm a real ale/real cider guy and I'm quite lucky living somewhere where there are so many micro breweries.

Re: Gaymers
Must be nice.
As far as the domestic micro-brews (domestic to US) we sold some really good small craft. We also dealt in many great imports, as well (Achouffe, Einbecker, Snhneider and Sons, etc)... but our English selection seemed to be mostly of mass production. (Blackthorne, Old Speckled Hen, Wexford, Green King, to name a few)
Anyways, the US micro scene is somewhat diverse these days... although nothing like your region. I love beer, but no longer have the diversity at my disposal (for free) that I did when I sold. I remember when I took my first load of "samples" out of the warehouse I totaled up my haul at a retail value of $450!
I miss that job.

Haha, sounds awesome.
Yeah the greene king and old speckled hen stuff is the stuff that is very common and cheap in the supermarkets over here. It's passable when you walk into a bar and all they have is lager,'cider' or bottles and bottles of girl drinks and one actual hand pump. Good luck finding somebody to actually serve it, I just sigh when I walk into a pub that has 1 handpull. You're almost guaranteed a terrible pint.
There's quite a few American beers I like, Anchor's Liberty is one of my faves, the local coffee shop stocks (and plenty of other tasty american beers, as well as a big selection of continental pils and biers.) then there's the trendy bar down the road that stocks a lot of Anchor beers and usually have at least 5 different American beers to choose from. They have a vast selection of continental beers, it's bleeding expensive though. Usually £3-4 a bottle and we're talking continental sizes here so it's not even a pint, more like 33cl bottles. Then there's the other pub that I frequent that has over 100 different bottled beers from all around the world. They have a gorgeous Danish smoked Rauchbier that's nearly 9% but it's totally worth it.
If I weren't in the music industry I'd be in the Alcohol industry I can tell you that for a fact.
