I went into town today and picked up Cannon Fodder for the Mega Drive. It's one of those games that has been sat on my wish list for a long time, but I have not been in too much of a rush to pick up. Always wanted to get it as a kid, so glad to finally get it.

Edit: Posted this too soon. Mario Power Tennis for the Gamecube just arrived.

I added Record of Lodoss War for the Sega Dreamcast this afternoon!

Record of Lodoss War is based on a series of novels that I have never read and is actually a game I have never heard of before. However, I am running extremely low on Dreamcast games for my Wishlist and during one of my deep dives, I came across the game. It's a Diablo style action adventure role-playing game made by Neverland that looked pretty interesting. Neverland worked on the Lufia series and then eventually the Rune Factory series, so there is a pedigree there.

I wanted to add one more game before the end of the year and I was looking for something with more length to it and this one seemed to fit the bill. It seemed intriguing enough for me to give it a try.

Picked up this fantastic condition Drill Dozer, which has been on my wish list for a couple of years. As it didn't come out in Europe, it's a kind of difficult one to find here, although the Japanese edition seems a little easier to find. I am looking forward to giving this one a go, as I have never played it before.

I also picked up Ridge Racer 6 for the 360.

Last update of the year. I picked up a few games in December from sellers on Discord and from CEX - Beautiful Katamari and the Mario Bros. game and watch were from CEX. Still slowly working on that Game and Watch collection. Gradius V and Folklore were from Discord.

Dragon Quest through Shadow of the Ninja Reborn were birthday and Christmas presents.

I have one more game on order that I was hoping would arrive on time for this post - it's a big one and would be a cool way to wrap up the year. Instead it will be the first game of 2026 - I splashed out on it as it will be my 2000th game on my backloggery.

As usual I bought more than I beat. I finished 58 games and some of those were replays.

Physical/Digital split: 74 physical, 3 digital

As usual, I didn't buy many digital games. 2 of them were only available digitally, and one was Mario Kart World which was bundled with the Switch.

Console/Handheld split: 45 console, 32 handheld

The handheld portion of the additions this year was mostly Switch & Switch 2.

Quite a variety of consoles represented this year, but Sega in particular is very under-represented this year, so I'd like to look at picking up some more Sega titles in 2026. I'd also like to give the Game Boy and GBA a bit more love, as there's dozens of games I still want for those systems too.

I picked up a number of Switch titles here at the end of 2025, but instead of highlighting those, I want to highlight something else - a new TV. My old Vizio in the living room was starting to have problems with the handshake to the HDMI amplifier and even had one HDMI port go completely dead, so we decided we needed a new living room TV. Now, this was a frustrating hunt, because I needed something affordable but also good for gaming, and nothing we have does 4K (OK, Switch 2 does, but that's it), so I was very worried about upscaling. You can't get a decent TV that's 42" or larger that isn't 4K. But I managed to find a good deal on an LG B2 series OLED, so we ordered it and, with the help of a local handyman, I got it mounted on our full swivel mount.

The short version is that this TV looks great and was JUST on the affordable side for a family Christmas present. It's bright and clear, upscaling is clean, and the only issue is it won't turn on the external audio automatically. So our new living room viewing and gaming environment is now much more visually appealing.
