What are you playing?
Re: What are you playing?
Aside from the odd bit of the fanmade remasters of the CD-i Zelda games on my Retroid Pocket 5, a mix of RE Village and Dead Island 2 (NG+ as Ryan while considering playing the Haus DLC as Jacob).
Re: What are you playing?
My current "long game" (i.e. not an arcade title) is Cult of the Lamb. I really dig the juxtaposition of cutesy forest animals and the menacing machinations of running a cult. Do you want to be nice? Or.... are you going to build a stockade to put the heretics in until you're ready to sacrifice them? (Don't ask me how I know this.)
This is the closest game I've played that kind of mimics the Actraiser simulation-action dynamic. You spend your time tending to your "flock" and then you go into the dark woods and enter an action-packed roguelite.
Really cool game and I wish I wasn't so late to the party on it.

Re: What are you playing?
...after wrapping up Hollow Knight I figured it was best to put off jumping right into Silksong, so I've been working my way through Nine Sols. It's definitely on par w/the original Hollow Knight gameplay and story wise, I'd give Hollow Knight the easy win in the OST department though. I'm enjoying the game, but the combat is ummm, demanding and definitely a "get gud" kind of game.
Re: What are you playing?
House of Necrosis for PC, a mashup of 32-bit survival horror and the Mystery Dungeon franchise. Like, I'm literally surprised that this isn't an actual PS1 game in the roguelike series.
But I'm also playing LOTS of Dead by Daylight, especially during the 2v8 event. Kinda getting the hang of maining Nemesis, though as a survivor I'm sticking with David King.
And bits of the RE2 remake and Crash Bandicoot 4.

Re: What are you playing?
I'm playing through Silent Hill on the PS1 currently. I started it right before Halloween and have been slowly working my way through it. Unfortunately, I haven't had a quiet weekend where I could binge through a large portion of the game. I'm enjoying it but it definitely lives up to it's reputation regarding the scare factor. Maybe it's best I'm playing it in shorter spurts.

Re: What are you playing?
I'm revealing my hand a bit here, but since I already beat 60 games in 2025, I'm almost finishing a bunch of games for next year, lol! I know, it's rather pretentious. But the goal is to "save up" enough games through the years so that I can beat Final Fantasy XIV and 52 other games in one year
UFO 50 (yes, beating all fifty((?)) games)
Ninja Cop (why is this so expensive?)
Little Kitty Big City (way better than Stray)
Claire Obscure E33 (it's not bad, it's just that I feel like this could have been made in 2003)
Speedball 2 (I have my theories as to why this was so popular on the Amiga and not so popular on the MegaDrive, but I'd love to hear yours!)
Grim Fandango (Gotta find an interview with Tim on this game, what was he thinking???)
The Last Guardian (Did Sony deliberately take away the best parts of ICO and SotC to make commercially viable? Tragic stuff)
Egg (Not one of Terry's best...)
Fire Emblem Awakening (Even more ways to level up your characters!)
Wave Race 64 (Has me hungry for Blue Storm, I love how organic the courses are)
Returnal (Not far yet, but shows a lot of potential!)
Super Mario 3D World (more of the same)

I don't know how far into XIV you've gotten, but I'm sure it's far enough. Better to just cut your losses. Each expansion gets progressively worse.

This sounds like it could be similar to my experience with Grim Fandango.

Ditto. That game gets too much credit for its personality. The gameplay and moon logic puzzles are garbage.

Bingo. I don't hate the personality, though. However, It's not exactly my favorite flavor of quirk, either.
Also, forgot to mention--

If it's the Remastered version, there's actually a director commentary option with the game. It is kind of interesting, although I only listened to it in a handful of spots, personally.
