Rip Billy

Post by stickem »

Man, this one is messing with me. I've watched the game chasers since day one and always thought these guys would be cool to hang with, like one of the same. I'm only a few years older than billy. It's crazy you can be totally fine one day, 2 weeks later you die from bullshit cancer. Thoughts and prayers to the whole gang and family.

I don't know Billy or Game Chasers, but yeah, when people close to your age with whom you have some familiarity, either in person or through regular content viewing, pass away it can be a really abrupt reminder of your own mortality.

^ the older i get, the more that rings true brother. If you get bored it's american puckers style production with buddy buddy frat humor thrown in. History channel at one point wanted to pick it up, but they declined. Just a cool comfort show. Feel free to move this wherever, i just thought he deserved a post. I believe their movie, Adventures of Game Chasing , is on tubi.

I used to watch their content all the time back on Retroware TV. I kind of fell off when that dissipated, but every now and then, I would check out an episode to see what they were doing. Wasn't big into their toy collecting, so I never became a fan again.

But, I completely agree with you. They always seemed like really cool dudes who would be fun to hang out with.

In retro game collecting, their is this wonderful feeling of finding the game that you have been looking for a long time out in the wild. That rush of excitement and they nailed that feeling perfectly.

Rest in Peace, Billy.

Also saw this news earlier today and was really surprised and bummed about it.

I became a fan of the Game Chasers show around 2020, when I was sick and stuck at home. Provided a lot of entertainment and fun moments throughout the episodes. I saw Billy's post about his health issues recently and was hoping he'd pull through.

Last year, when I attended the LI Retro Expo for the first time, I saw someone in a Game Chasers tee and complimented their shirt. They said a catch phrase from the series, "That's the way game chasing go" and I replied "Caught you slipping," another phrase from the series. It was great to have a fun interaction around it.

Tough loss for the retro gaming community. RIP, Billy.

I met him (and the rest of the crew) briefly at cons over the years, and I actually bumped into him at the Texas state fair about 5 years ago. Very nice man, and its surreal to see. Been watching them since they started just about.
