marurun wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 12:44 pm Why do you need imports to complete a North American release set? Are those Canada/Mexico only or something?

The games were released in NA, but for those releases, Sega just imported some copies from Europe and slapped a new UPC sticker on them. Copies with the UPC sticker are frequently MUCH more expensive than the imports, and while I’m a pretty crazy collector, I’m not so crazy that I’m willing to pay 100s of dollars for a UPC sticker! Accordingly, I’m just going to import copies of those games.
Interesting. Sega did a lot of that kind of thing. Thunder Force III had a rare European release for example on the Mega Drive, but they just imported the Genesis copies and slapped some kind of sticker on it. And then they did a similar thing with Sonic & Knuckles on late print runs, where they took "parts" of the Genesis version, such as the internal trays and miss matching them with our version (we had a grey tray in Europe, you guys had red, but later European print runs had the red tray and some had the Genesis manual I think).

Anyways, good luck completing your set. Golden Axe Warrior is one I want to pick up. I was watching a copy on an eBay auction recently, but unfortunately it went higher than I wanted to pay.

That IS an awesome find! I don’t have any of the Atari “double-ended cartridges, and to find one, in box, with the Chick Norris game, is just rad.

I once saw one at the Augusta Game Exchange (RIP…), and I asked “the guy” how much he wanted for the double ended. You can guess how that went…

Fun Fact: The 16-bit Ms. Pac Man ports are the very best versions of the game, and the Sega Genesis version is the best of those. We’ll never see it re-released; so, I hope you enjoy the best version of one of the best games of all time!

I've been playing a lot of Pac-Man games lately and want to try Ms. Pac-Man since I've never played it before.

I love the Genesis and have heard that the Genesis version is amazing.

It’s the original game with more content.

also it was only 11$ and that's including shipping.

so yah I'm very happy with ms pac man very good budget game

also is the NES version of tengen ms pac man good.
i like the more arcade accurate graphics.
if it dose not have any major issues then i will pick up a copy someday if i get the chance

It is. It was developed and published by Namco in Japan, and like NES Pac-Man, it’s pretty much a straight port. (That is, it doesn’t have the extra maps, play modes, etc. found in the 16-bit versions.) If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s a great choice and probably the best version of the game outside of the arcade until the 16-bit release.

EDIT: I forgot! The Namco and Tengen versions are different! Everything I wrote before holds for the Namco version. The Tengen version does have extra features and slightly crisper controls, if I recall correctly this time, and it is definitely the superior 8-but version of the game.

Ms Pac Man is such an interesting example of unwilling "cooperative" Japan - US development.

Wasn't Ms. Pac-Man originally a hacked version of Pac-Man?

Also, I used to have the Tengen Genesis cart but I gutted it to use as a shell for my Everdrive MD. And I bet if I went onto eBay and looked for Tengen Ms. Pac-Man carts, they'd probably sell for 30 or 40 bucks.
