I picked up Magical Hat no Buttobi Turbo! Daibouken for the Mega Drive.

This is the game that was changed and reskinned in the West, renamed to Decap Attack. The original had kind of been on my want list for a while, but it wasn't a game I particularly wanted to spend much on. I saw a good deal on a complete copy crop up though and had to go for it.

I picked up Master of Darkness for the Master System and the Amerzone remake for the PS5.

Master of Darkness is an interesting Castlevania clone. Amerzone is a point and click adventure game created by Benoit Sokal, of Syberia fame.

Some more solid pick ups!

Is Amerzone a “classic” in Europe? I, kind of randomly, acquired a copy of the PS1 port (in a randomly US retail store) a while back, and knowing nothing ahoy it, spent some time researching it. As you noted, it is from a noted artist and game designer, and I was surprised it wasn’t ported to US systems.

Thanks! I actually don't know much about Amerzone. Funnily enough I was looking to buy the PS1 port when I discovered there was a modern remake released earlier this year and so figured I would buy that instead (at least for now).

I am a fan of the Syberia series and happened to stumble across a post on Reddit from someone ranking all the creator's games. My reaction was "he made other games...?" I don't know why I never thought to look into his other creations before. I figured I'd look into getting all his other games, since he didn't make too many.

Had slower months in regards to game pick ups for June and July, but managed to pick up two titles I've been on the look out for, for quite a while.

Exile (GEN) - I'm slowly collecting the various RPG and action RPG games that were released on the Genesis. Played a bit of this one via emulation years ago and thought it was pretty unique. Looking forward to going through it.

Strider 2 (PS1) - My buddy had this game when we were younger and I enjoyed playing it at his place. More recently, a Barcade location near me had this cabinet and I ended up spending quite a bit of time with it one night. Very glad to finally have my own copy!

3 game purchases this month, but they include some interesting ones I think. Donkey Kong Bananza is my first physical game for Switch 2, and was one I was very excited to play. Review will come in the games beaten thread eventually, as always I'm way behind on writing them!

Klonoa Beach Volleyball is a very odd spin-off in the Klonoa franchise which didn't get a North American release. It's pretty rare as you'd expect, but I got mine without manual which meant it cost significantly less.

Pokemon Colosseum is a game I've owned a copy of for years, but I bought it again this time because some later versions of it were bundled with Pokémon Box. This bundle of both games goes for notably cheaper than Pokémon Box does alone, and I'm more than happy to buy a cheaper version of the same thing. Speaking of cheaper, this is another one I bought with no manual to greatly reduce the cost - but I also got lucky and my copy came with manuals for both games anyway, which was a nice bonus.

I actually only picked up one vinyl this month, the Astro Bot soundtrack from Fangamer. However, I realised I hadn't added any of the other soundtracks I've been picking up throughout the year here, so I listed all of them. I've been buying these throughout the year, so I didn't just buy them all at once.

I never knew this existed. I have never heard of it. Obviously I have played and heard of the Klonoa series, but I had no idea they released a spin off volleyball game. That's fascinating!

Man, Pokémon Colosseum is one of those games that absolutely rocketed in price after Covid (like all Pokémon games, I guess). I know it isn't super expensive or anything, but I bought it for £8 including delivery years ago off eBay. Unfortunately whilst the disc loaded fine, the game kept crashing around the same spot 30 minutes or so into the game, so I ended up returning it. I always intended to buy another copy, but never got around to it and now I just look at how much more expensive it is now and wish I had been quicker to do that.

Anyways, I am rambling... It's cool you got the version with Pokémon Box bunded. I saw a complete copy of that version last month, but I think it was really expensive (can't remember the exact price). What a bonus that it had the manuals too when you bought a version without. Was that with CeX?

Yep, both my retro games were Cex pickups this month. The difference in price between manual and no manuals for colosseum+box is about £60 so I was glad to have lucked out!
