I picked up Dune and Star Wars Chess for the Mega-CD, Ninja Gaiden for the Master System, Mace Griffin and Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow for the Xbox and Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the DS.

Ninja Gaiden is the one I am most excited about.

Awesome! That is one of my most wanted games. While not as good as the NES’s best, it is still a rock solid action platformer. (Also, NG: Dragon Sword is also really good. Don’t sleep on it!)

Thanks! Yeah, I had a play of it the other day after it arrived, and really enjoyed it. I only intended to put it in to test it worked, but I found I couldn't put the game down. It looks and plays great, considering it is I guess more of a spin off and was developed by Sega instead.

I tried NG Dragon Sword too. I didn't really know what to expect from it, as I hadn't even realised there was a Ninja Gaiden game on DS and it was a complete impulse buy. It seems it plays upright and hold the DS like a book and then use the touch screen to play, which is interesting.

It does, and it works amazingly well, somewhat surprisingly. Once I really started with it, I couldn’t put it down, which is (sadly) something I can’t say about Ninja Gaiden II.

It is near the end of July, so that means my local Retro Game Convention was this afternoon. It is my favorite day of the year and the day I most look forward to throughout the entire year.

Unfortunately, this year is a bit lighter compared to other years. I had a list of 30 games and I only walked out with 9 of them. I had the money and were willing to buy them, but I just could not find any that I was looking for. However, out of the ones I did buy, I am very happy and excited to own. I'll just go through some quick highlights.

Axelay - This is the pick of the convention. It was my most expensive pick up by just a few, but the cartridge is absolutely flawless. Looks brand spanking new. In fact, I thought it was a Repro cart, but I am glad to see that it is legit. Also, I have been looking for this one for quite a while as I am slowly getting into the Shooter genre.

Dr. Mario & Puzzle League - This is my most wanted game of the convention. This was at the top of my short list of games that I desperately wanted, so I was really glad to find this one and it was the quickest decision I made there.

Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II - Every other game I bought this year are very short games. This is my only long one. But, if you add up the hours of all my other games, I don't think they would add up to this one. Another expensive one and one that I was highly looking forward to. I really enjoyed both DreamCast versions, so I am very excited to go through the GameCube version.

Scored Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time for Switch 2 (digital) from Gamestop.com, and with my Pro membership I even saved a few bucks.

Also scored a few more Switch 1 games from the eShop. Eldest Souls, Before We Leave and Servonauts a few days ago and before that in the past 2-3 weeks I also go Tormented Souls, Octopath Traveller, Dragon Quest XI, Victory Heat Rally, Brawlout, Dead of Darkness (though I might buy the PC version to see if it can be ported via Portmaster since it is a Gamemaker title), Chernobylite: Premium Edition, Strange Brigade, Penny's Big Breakaway, Conscript and Kao the Kangaroo (it was cheaper in a two-pack with Urban Trial Playground).
