Re: GIVE ME YOUR GAMING HOT TAKES
As much as I love the first Golden Axe, aspects of the gameplay could be kind of clunky. And Alien Storm actually feels quite similar in some ways even while being so different. It's a very hot take in terms of popular opinion, but when I really think about it rationally it doesn't feel nearly as hot a take.

And yet at tournaments I did just as well with the PS2 pad, while making it easier to play MvC2, ST, and CvS2.marurun wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 11:08 amWow, that is indeed quite a hot take.RobertAugustdeMeijer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:24 am Another hot-take:
The PS2 controller is better for fighting games than the Saturn controller.
D-pad is just as good. Shoulder buttons are easier to press simultaneously with face buttons.
When Guilty Gear X2 was released, I didn't even bother playing it with the Saturn pad: PS2 pad worked perfectly.
Re: GIVE ME YOUR GAMING HOT TAKES
cant lie i kind of agree on that.
the Saturn controller is still grate and feels good with fighters but i think the ps1/ps2 controllers is a bit more comfortable and has a better feeling d pad

Even with controller feel it often comes down to personal opinions. I consider it a hot take not because it's wrong, per se, just that it is indeed quite counter to the conventional wisdom, that's all. And I have a particular dislike for the PlayStation-style separated dpad.RobertAugustdeMeijer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:20 amAnd yet at tournaments I did just as well with the PS2 pad, while making it easier to play MvC2, ST, and CvS2.

I'm with you. It's my one grip with the Joycon 2 although it's completely logical why it's split into buttons in that case.marurun wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 10:56 amEven with controller feel it often comes down to personal opinions.
