Modern Run n Gun games

Post by PGchris »

Seems like aside from Contra Shattered Soldier, and the later Metal Slug games you don't see many run n gun titles except on handhelds. Am I missing some games or is this genre basically dead on modern consoles?

The PS2 did have a Run N Gun called Blowout. I've only played a little bit of it...it's ok, but nothing spectacular.

Alien Hominid. It's on Gamecube, PS2 and XBLA.

Not Run N Gun, but a 2D-ish side scroller all the same (also getting harder to find nowadays).

Kim Possible: What's The Switch.

I know I know, the name makes you think it's a kiddie game, but it's really awesome and looks great.

It's not a 2d game, but Gungrave and Gungrave: Overdose are good for shutting down the brain and shooting up the pain.

I just happened to write about it recently after getting the HD XBLA version. Really, it's damn fun.

Aren't they making a sequel to that N64 game that never got released here? I can't remember what it's called. All you did was Run . . . and gun.
