Watched the first season. It's absolutely excellent. Some of the characters are very different from the 80s original version. However, the new interpretations of some of these characters is fantastic once you adjust to them as they are very well written. At first, I found it jarring how different they are, but now it doesn't bother me at all. Yes, the makers of this reboot have taken some liberties with these characters, but I can't complain because it just works. Think of it as a sort of alternate universe and it becomes easier to accept that some of the characters are different. This is a reboot after all, so one shouldn't expect EVERYTHING to be the same. Scrooge, Donald, and Launchpad are pretty much the same as you remember them though so it's not ALL different. Tennant is phenomenal.

Based on the first season alone, this is one of the best cartoons I have ever watched, and I was a big fan of the 80s original version. There were a few episodes I wasn't into, but most of season 1 is very good and a couple of episodes are just plain fantastic, and I already know that I will rewatch them in the future.

The humor and the dialog are much better than I expected, and the show is very good at regularly throwing unexpected curveballs at you. I have seen many a show, especially cartoons, with predictable writing and I wouldn't say that about this show. If you go in with an open mind, you'll have a good time. I hope the remaining seasons are just as good.

I don't have any issues with the voice work or characterizations, but I am a little sad about the animation itself. But it would be unrealistic to expect something up to the standards of the original work TMS did back in the day.

Just started working my way through season 3, which I have some issues with, but still enjoying the show overall. I'm still kind of feeling like season 1 is the strongest overall season though. Season 2 has some real stand out episodes though despite an overall lame and pointless story arc revolving around the moon. The finale is also not as good as the season 1 finale and honestly feels like a cluttered mess of a finale.

This show gets really meta sometimes and borderline fourth wall breaking, which leads to some fun and unexpected moments. It may be a bit too clever for its own good at times and sometimes it feels like the show wants to punch through the "kids show" ceiling and be something a bit more. I could see these people doing a more adult type of show in the vein of a Rick and Morty.

As far as characters go, Glomgold is maybe the most hilarious character in the whole show. Magical DeSpell is the overall coolest villain though. I like her new design

I really like this show's version of Gizmoduck. He may be better than the original one. Donald Duck though, is the real star of this show, I think. It's not Scrooge McDuck. Donald's the unsung hero of this show and he's literally the reason for EVERYTHING that happens in this show. It's all right there in the very first episode of season 1. I don't like Goldie O' Gilt though. Her episodes are kind of weak and her character is annoying. Dewey can also be a bit of a grating character at times. He's the most annoying one out of the triplets. Huey is BY FAR the best of the four kids.

I'm looking forward to rewatching the whole series again. I really enjoyed where they went with it.
And my kids really enjoy watching it with us grownups too.

Been re-watching it myself, and boy you don't realize until you watch the series a second time how many little things they foreshadow or hint at in some episodes. It becomes more obvious how many things they had planned out in advance. Things that seemed meaningless on a first viewing now have you going, "Oooooh, I get that now. That's why he said that" or "That's why she did that" or "that's what that weird look in his eyes was about".

I truly love this show, but it's not perfect. I mentioned some gripes already before, but to add to them...

Darkwing Duck is kind of a double edged sword on this show. The two episodes that focus entirely on him ("The Duck Knight Returns" and "Let's Get Dangerous") are great, and feel like the first two episodes of an actual Darkwing Duck reboot. Unfortunately, outside of those two episodes, his other appearances on the show are pretty awful and a complete disgrace to the character.

He's portrayed as a loser (Scrooge McDuck shows him zero respect) and an idiot (he can't figure out who Gizmoduck is even when the show makes it so obvious that you would literally have to be the dumbest person alive to not figure it out) , and the show's series finale decided that giving Launchpad McQuack a big hero moment (and a very poorly done one at that) was more important than giving one to Darkwing Duck AND Gizmoduck, which is absolutely ridiculous. What a waste of two great characters in the most important episode of the entire show

It's a shame we never got that Darkwing Duck reboot because the writers clearly didn't know how to utilize him well within the Ducktales cast.

Also, much as I enjoy her, the writers show a bit too much favoritism to Webby on this show. You get the sense that she's their favorite character and they go a bit overboard trying to make her seem awesome
