Re: The Wrestling Thread
I watched a video about how Stephanie Vaquer went to WWE even though AEW offered her more money. One of the youtube comments perfectly sums up why I hate AEW's women's division
"It’s not just about money, but it’s also time. WWE gives the women much more time than AEW, especially in NXT. She goes to AEW, in likely an 5-year deal, and she might feud with Mercedes for a little bit and then she’s off TV, even today, she’d be off TV because AEW is still building up Mercedes and Toni. Then when she’s done with AEW, she’d be in her mid to late 30s"
AEW focuses and one or two women, and the rest of the roster just gets wasted. AEW is just the Mercedes Monet and Toni Storm show now. No other women can get any opportunities because of John Cena Storm and Hulk Hogan Mercedes holding down the entire damn division.
Tony - "Hey can we focus on someone else?"
Mercedes/Storm - "That doesn't work for us brother"

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Wrestlemania Night 1 sucked. Stand and Deliver main event was awesome though. Only WWE's C Show can produce anything worth a damn now, and this shit company just purchased AAA
Prowrestling feels practically dead in 2025. Seriously, it's AWFUL right now. WWE can't even do Wrestlemania right anymore. Triple H may be an even worse booker than Vince McMahon

No Bayley now?
This is on track to be one of the worst Wrestlemanias of all time.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
It was fucking terrible.
The best bit was the Machine Head hype package to promote Seth vs Punk vs Reigns.
Maybe Night 2 will be better (although that would not be hard).

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Seems like Iyo, Bianca, and Ripley had the match of the night. The only other major highlight was Dominick Mysterio becoming the Intercontinental champion.
After that the show went downhill. Night 2 was frontloaded.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Agreed. The first three matches, in particular the opening women's match, were really good. The opening match stole the show. No, stole the weekend. It was brilliant.
The second half of night two was terrible. It fell apart the moment meme wrestler and TNA WORLD Champion got squashed. Great partnership though...
After that it was three crap matches including a dreadful main event.

I think what happened to Hendry not only shows what WWE really thinks of TNA, but that Triple H is no different than Vince McMahon.Reprise wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 4:39 am Agreed. Re: The Wrestling Thread
I agree. That's why TNA is partnered with NXT, because they barely see it on the level of their development brand. I get that TNA has fallen hard since their peak when they were more of an equal competitor to WWE, but I think world champions should always be treated with respect by other promotions.
It's amusing that both AEW and WWE have a poor world title/main event scene and both promotions have a fair share of fans who will defend both to the hilt.
I saw some comments from fans actually claiming that the main event was good and the reason some people might think it was "bad" was because it was all part of Cena's persona to put on a bad match since he said he would "ruin wrestling for everyone".
Lol what?
I think his recent comments lashing out at fans who complain about or criticise aspects of WWE show that he is very similar. They want a docile fanbase who will praise everything they do. Triple H has just been more talented at culturing that than Vince ever could.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Raw was...surprisingly good. Like, seriously. They ran an angle with Michael Cole and Pat that Cole was selling perfectly throughout the show to his credit. We had a FANTASTIC match between Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky. Iyo is on a fantastic run right now and Stephanie is just money waiting to be made. I'll take these two over more Mercedes Mone/Toni Storm bullshit. The way the match resolved was also a cool surprise. WWE's women's divisions are on fire.
We had an eventful title match, one of two on the show. They set up the next challenger for Cena, which may or may not be a good feud. We'll see how it plays out. We got new directions for Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Paul Heyman.
We got surprises, heel turns, a WWE return (though I'm not super excited to see Rusev again personally), a title change, an interesting angle, and great in ring action. A nice solid fucking show.
Now the question is can they keep up the momentum.
Best line of the night. The crowd boos when Cena says Cody's name and Cena, the heel, says, "You heartless bastards"

Re: The Wrestling Thread
It was a good Raw. I'm not particularly excited for Cena vs Orton for the 50 billionth time, but it was a cool moment having Orton stood over Cena, whilst the crowd sang his theme.
No, it really was though. Still, great match between Iyo and Stephanie though.
