The Wrestling Thread
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Wow, those facial expressions. They look so bored to be in that promo image.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah, WWE's kinda suck at the moment, which is odd considering how hot they are. Whilst AEW's design team is killing it with stuff like this (despite being as cold as they can possibly get)
Own: Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PS Vita, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, Xbox 360
Re: The Wrestling Thread
The WWE 2K25 DLC announced is pretty crazy. A ton of TNA stars are being included. Also Billy Gunn is DLC! Lol Billy Gunn made it into a WWE game before he made it into an AEW game.

Makes sense.
NXT is where your enthusiasm for wrestling goes to die.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Every time I see Mariah May and Toni Storm I'm reminded of all of those online wrestling fans who say women's wrestling is stupid. If they pointed to those two, I would have no defense.
Me - "Can we talk about Mercedes and Mom Watanabe instead? Or how about that Rhea Ripley/Iyo Sky title match from a week ago? Hey, Tiffany Stratton is pretty cool right?"
I hate to admit it, but Bianca and Jade Cargill have been used pretty well. Bianca actually has had an actual story line, and Jade is being presented well. Naomi for her part, played her role well in this recent story too.
Revolution has been fun so far, I'm typing this as that stupid Toni Storm match is happening. I can hear it in the other room but really don't care. The only low point of the show so far. Ricochet vs Swerve was awesome, Hangman vs. MJF was great, Mercedes and Momo was pretty good though it seemed a bit sloppy in the beginning of the match. I have this fun theory that Billy Starks is taking notes to inform Athena on how to eventually beat Mercedes.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Fun PPV with a weak ending. AEW continues to be in the same boring holding pattern
Mercedes continues her boring title reign. I'm beginning to despise the TBS title because it has a pattern of long, endless title reigns with boring champions (remember Jade Cargill?)
Toni Storm continues her boring title reign
Moxley continues his boring title reign
Lashley is still being wasted on tag team matches and now doesn't even speak for himself anymore. Has Tony Kahn lost his mind?
Still waiting on Speedball to debut
Nobody is breaking out in the women's division because of the tyranny of Mercedes and Toni Storm.
The company is losing people (Fenix, Pentagon, Malakai, Ricky Starks, etc.)
C'mon AEW. You really do feel like TNA 2.0 at this point. Anybody who still won't admit that at this point is in denial.
WWE finally has something worth talking about in Cena, though in fairness I have to point out that they had ZERO meaningful follow up to that last week
AEW needs to fucking move forward somehow already, and WWE better take the title off of Cody Rhodes at Mania. Both of these companies really need a breath of fresh air at the top. It's getting so stagnant and boring. Cody is not exciting in any way, shape, or form. He's a bland, corporate, create a wrestler, champion being propped up by more talented people who have to carry him in every single goddamn feud that he's in. Moxley is just a has been at this point. Much like Jericho, he feels like AEW's past, not its future.
Oh, and fuck all this Queen of the Ring bullshit. That interview segment with the director and his girls made me roll my eyes and change the channel. I'm here for wrestling not nonsense from some D-List Hollywood losers who probably aren't going to make any money off of this dumb movie. Save this kind of crap for WWE pay per views.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah, the main event almost sucked the life out of that show. Honestly, I thought it was a great show overall. Hangman and MJF was great, Swerve and Ricochet was awesome and there weren't any bad matches until the final match. Then Cope and Mox decided to wrestle in slow motion in what felt like a old bad Raw main event with a silly sports entertainmenty shenanigans ending. The only redeeming moment was Swerve at the end. They just need to make him champion again.
Mox is a has been. He's passed it and the Death Riders gimmick is fucking stupid. Nobody likes it and nobody cares about Mox as world champion. They had their "out" and pivot in front of them with Christian Cage and decided to throw it away for some reason. There is no way that conclusion appealed to anyone, so why do it? It's frustrating to watch.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Also, can they please stop making this shit so predictable? (This goes for WWE and AEW)
As soon as Christian hit Cope and revealed he was 'cashing in', Mox exited the ring and hung about by the ring post. It was painfully obvious from the moment Christian signed the contract to make it a three way, that Mox would come back into the ring and take out Christian to retain because of the way he did that. I even said to myself as it was unfolding 'oh Mox is going to retain'.
The same is true for Mercedes retaining each defence, because we know they are building towards Athena beating her at All In in July. They have already begun planting those seeds with Starkz. Then Athena will hold the title until Starkz finally beats her mentor in their rubber match. There you go, I just gave away the next 6-9 months of the TBS Championship storyline

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Athena beating Mercedes is such a horrible idea. You're gonna have someone who was NEVER on television come in and beat the most dominant champion the women's division has ever had? Really? Then what? You're gonna have her go on another boring, endless title reign? Is that just the norm with Tony Kahn? Put a title on a woman and have her keep it until Hell freezes over?
The booking of the women's division in AEW is beyond terrible at this point. The TBS title has been booked horribly from day 1 with the only bright spot being Willow Nightingale, and the Women's title became a joke the moment Timeless Toni got her hands on it. I hate the defenders saying that Toni elevates people. She has elevated no one. Does anyone remember Mina Shirakawa? Yeah, that's right. It's like Mina never existed. Mariah May's title reign was a joke, as she was just keeping the belt warm for Toni to win it AGAIN. Toni Storm is the Jon Moxley of the women's division with all of her title wins. Toni Storm is getting close to Charlotte Flair levels of annoying. A blond haired tyrant that the company keeps handing title wins to.
I officially give up on the women's division in AEW. WWE is, to quote Will Ospreay, on a "whole other level" when it comes to the booking of their women compared to AEW. They have elevated multiple women in WWE and have a couple different interesting feuds and story lines happening unlike AEW which is just the Timeless Toni/Mercedes Mone show
Honestly, after the finish to Revolution this company is really starting to feel like TNA with its dumb booking. Last night was an embarrassment and you can tell by the reaction online. Not a good look for AEW following what was a pretty well received pay per view from WWE. They've tanked their version of Money in the Bank and they've buried Christian. This was so fucking easy. Strap Adam Copeland, then have Christian cash in on him. In one night you would have made two world champions, and Adam Copeland wouldn't even have looked bad coming off of losing the title that way.
The way things are going I'm not even excited to see Swerve become champion again. He deserves better than Moxley and this shit.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I guess it's a good thing I changed the channel during that stupid interview with the Queen of the Ring D-List losers, as I'm hearing now that one of those girls said something that pissed everyone off.
