Toaplan Shooters Collection Volume 2

So Retro-Bit announced a new entry into Toaplan shmups that they have been re-releasing for the Genesis/Mega Drive. I think it's really cool to see Slap Fight get a western release and Grind Stormer becoming more widely available at a reasonable price (even if it isn't the best version) is a nice too.

I think I'll be picking this set up! I've wanted a copy of Grind Stormer for a while now, but the fact that it's on a Tengen cart has kept me away. I already had one Genesis Tengen game fail on me (Gauntlet IV, which Ziggy repaired -- thanks Zig), so I don't have much faith in those original carts.

Also, very cool to see Slap Fight get a US release. I'm enjoying these Genesis rereleases and wondering what other titles we'll see down the line.

Well, there was an unexpected update on the Toaplan Shooters Collection Volume 2 this evening. It seems like there is some type of issue with one of games and pre-orders have been put on hold.

Someone on Twitter mentioned there's an Easter egg related to Space Invaders in Slap Fight later in the game. Initially I thought that could be the issue, but Retro-Bit has stated they already handled that. Hope this gets resolved and we still get the collection as intended.

Here's the announcement Retro-Bit posted on their social media accounts:
