What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)
Re: What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)
I haven't listened to much Incubus so I can't say I'm a fan in any way, but I love the idea of re-recording an album in "studio live" format, at least as long as the band is good enough. A lot of recorded music is so manipulated that the live version is inherently different, and for a lot of "modern" pop and rock, that live version is very inferior. But a decent band can produce something that sounds much better. I'm really hoping The Warning does a studio live album, because they have a lot of live performances on YouTube and they're all better than their "polished" album tracks.

Mmm, well groups aren't really musicians anymore like they use to be. It use to be that live albums were absolutely fantastic, and some times there was such energy that the live version of a song one-upped the studio version. Even if the live version was technically inferior from an audio production standpoint.
Incubus is a weird band. And I mean that in a good way. It's impossible to label them with a genre because they've changed so much over the years. If I played a random song from their first or second album and then a random song from a later album, you might not realize it's the same band if you weren't already familiar with them. They've also changed the lineup, namely the bassist. The original Morning View album was recorded with the original bassist, who left the band after that album. The replacement bassist was with them until just recently. He had a brain tumor, I read. Now they have another replacement bassist, which is who recording Morning View XXIII with them. So all those things going for them, I thought it would be interesting to hear, at the least. But they actually stayed true to the original album. It just very much sounds like how they might alter it in a live performance 23 years later. Small changes here and there. Enough to keep you on your toes.

The most mysterious song on the internet has been found! Apparently it's called "Subways of Your Mind" by FEX.
