The Picture Posting Thread (Post Pics Here!)

Post by Ziggy »

I thought we use to have a thread like this. Maybe it was deleted, or maybe I just can't find it. Either way, I think we can make a new one.

POST PICTURES IN THIS THREAD.

Funny meme, beautiful view, whatever (as long as you follow the rules of the forum).

We had a wicked rain storm last week that caused significant flooding on Long Island.

Here's a pic that a friend sent me...

In 2014, my brother worked at a construction site in Manhattan. It apparently was in an office space that Nintendo used at some point.

An emergency evacuation pamphlet, and a bunch of writing pads were left behind.

Is that a mailbox next to the pole? If so, that’s a lot of water!

It was a couple of months back, but I finally got a nice chess set...

Image

I've only ever had cheap chess sets. I was mainly sick of having a board that folds in half (and lower end ones that don't line up perfectly when opened) and playing with really light pieces. I've been wanting to get a nicer set for years, but they can be pricey. I took advantage of a sale. This set that I got has a 4" king and the pieces are nicely weighted. It's basically impossible to tell the size from a pic without a reference, but the board is 24" square. I knew this was larger than the boards I was use to playing on, but when it arrived it just seemed HUGE. It's kind of a pain in the ass to put away, not as easy to find a spot as a smaller board that folds in half. But playing on it is loads nicer.

Nice. Did it come with extra pieces? I see another queen sitting there.

Competition chess sets tend to come with one extra queen per side.

Yeah, it came with 4 queens. Which I guess is common for any set over a certain dollar amount (competition or not).

Rarely do I ever need 4 queens, unless I'm completely dominating a complete novice. I don't get to play very often, so I'm not that good myself. And I tend to play very aggressively, so usually if I happen to get a pawn to the back row it'll be to get my queen back after sacrificing it. If I were keeping count, I'd probably only need one hand to count the number of times I had 2 queens on the board.

Speaking of chess:

I don’t know why they made Luigi the Queen. I think they had better choices…

I've seen many of those novelty chess sets in stores over the years, with plenty of other franchises. I always felt like it would be really hard to play because I wouldn't remember what each piece was suppose to be.

Re: Mario Chess

Why are coins pawns? That's weird. Also, in my mind I imagine this game playing more like Mario + Rabbids.
