Help needed identifying Sonic Cover

OK, so i picked this up at the goodwill and it has me confused. It says it's for the mega drive (at the bottom), and the instructions and game description are in 7 different European languages, so I assumed that it was the Euro version, except the Euro version says "Mega Drive" at the top of the box, and this one says Genesis. I checked all the Sonic auctions on ebay as well as the pics at gamefaqs and all of the ones that look like this cover say "Mega Drive" instead of Genesis. Any ideas?

yeah its the canadian pressing with english/french manual. i got the same copy, the logo says genesis since canada is north america
