So I need SRMS or SRM files for this MAME. I forget the exact letters. I just went into the interface and it has EVERY emulator ever. Wanna play some genesis.
EDIT: I mean BIN files.
Where can i get roms in BIN files?

Re: Where can i get roms in SRMs files?
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking for, but I'm fairly certain that SRM files are save files for roms. Also: are you referring to MESS? MESS is a mutli-system emulator that plays pretty much every console/home computer type game, whereas MAME plays arcade games.
If you are using MESS, and it does need roms in SRM format, then I suppose I'm of no help at all then!

It's a Dell computer inside the cabinet that has a program called Maximus on it and it has like every emulator there is. For Genesis I need SRM files.

Lokken's right, SRMs are save files. Genesis roms come in SMD or BIN format for most emulators. I don't know where you would download SRM files, because their specific to the game that has been played on the emulator. They aren't all the same.

Re: Where can i get roms in SRMs files?
YEAH I was reading it wrong. Im dumb. They're bin files. Anyone know of a site that only offers BIN files? I also got a different genesis emulator Gens32_Surreal and it looks better than the one that was on there but I cant get it to load full screen and with the buttons configured from the Mame menu. It goes to the desk top and opens a small window for the emulator screen. Wicked annoying.

Re: Where can i get roms in BIN files?
I'm not familiar with Maximus, but from a cursory glance at their website, it seems like it only handles emulators that are built into it. As long as the built in emulator works well enough, I'd just stick with it if you're set on using that particular frontend. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are here as far as posting links to roms, but if you do a google search for Sega Genesis roms you'll find plenty of sites. If you're still having trouble, feel free to PM me and I can point you in the right direction. Like tbeeghly said, Genesis roms are usually in BIN or SMD format, though I've seen them in GEN format a couple times as well. Most good emulators will take all the formats, and if they don't then there's usually a converter available somewhere.
I would however recommend a different, more modifiable frontend. There's quite a few out there, though I've never used them, I've seen some pretty slick implementations of them, especially on MAME cabinets. If you do choose to go with a different frontend, or at least a different Genesis emulator, I strongly recommend Kega Fusion. It's a great emulator with support for CD and 32X as well.
A bit of mega-post, but hopefully that's answer all your questions and whatnot. Emulation is pretty simple once you get used to the various programs, but learning to use them can be a hassle if your Google-fu isn't quite up to par.

Re: Where can i get roms in BIN files?
i ran into this on my PSP as well.
just rename the file extension to .bin, and it works.....
there is a small program that will go through and change your file extensions, but i can't remember the name. It's on some of the PSP sites.

I thought you could use Fusion with Maximus. ?
Maybe not, but if so... there's not a better choice for emulating Genesis
