Gamescom

Post by marurun »

So I finally got to looking over the new stuff announced at Gamescom and... I'm just not feeling most of it. It's all so very not retro in the least. Anyone hype for anything that showed up at Gamescom and want to make a case for it?

I don't ever really follow such things, so I had to Google for it. I found an IGN page "Gamescom 2024 The Biggest Announcements So Far." I scrolled through and didn't really see anything that interests me, although admittedly I don't do a lot of current gen gaming. I saw a new Batman Arkham game, which got me excited, but then realized it was VR so it might as well not exist as far as I'm concerned.

Looking at the comment section below the article, some of the top comments echo these feelings.

"Was excited for Batman, and then I saw it's a VR game."

"Posting this comment on the end of day 2... man, there better be a ton more announcements because so far this is pretty disappointing."

"Weak show from a weak generation of gaming"

"Everything so far feels like "been there, done that"."

One thing I saw teased at Gamescom was a new arcade stick for the Sega Saturn by Retro-Bit. It looks like it will have the ability to be hardwired or wireless through both 2.4g and bluetooth and can be connected to other devices other than the Saturn.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Would be cool to see it have compatibility for the Dreamcast as well.
