Re: The Wrestling Thread
I predicated it, while many online were saying it was ridiculous.
Still, it hasn't actually happened yet. We'll see if Shane pops up on TV or not. The EVP storyline makes the most sense.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
It blows my mind that photo leaked. That is unprecedented, I personally don't remember anything like that happening before in wrestling. Obviously we get dirtsheet reports, but to have an actual photo is funny.
Part of me wonders if they leaked it intentionally. Who is taking the picture and now it has leaked they will instantly know who took it and leaked it, so it would make sense if it was actually intentional.

Good job Phil, you've spent the last three years destroying your own legacy
Looks like the next big behind the scenes feud in AEW is Britt vs MJF

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'll never understand why wrestling fans love the behind the scenes gossip so much. For like 2 or 3 days straight I keep reading about the DMD vs MJF beef. In fact I have seen more stuff about that than Summerslam

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Because wrestling sucks in 2024, so the behind the scenes gossip and a random guy bashing Punk are the only thing that get anyone's attention. I'm not even posting that much lately as I'm pretty much bored with everything.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just watch some old shit, man. I watched some 2004 ROH earlier this week and last night I watched some 2007 TNA after binging my way through 2004-2006 TNA.
I also watched King of The Ring 1993 a couple of weeks back too, as I have never seen it before. It's the first ever KOTR if I remember correctly. Bret Hart had a great match against Mr Perfect. Not sure if it's as good as their match at Summerslam 1991, but it's close.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Made the mistake of watching some Summerslam.
Every Bloodline related match is the god damn same thing ZzzzZzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzzz
"It's Kevin Owens!"
"Oh my God, it's Randy Orton"
"IT'S ROMAN REIGNS"
Blah blah blah I am not going to run through all the interference. I am half surprised Cena and Taker didn't show up again
Punk and Drew was mildly entertaining. Punk looked like an idiot. Him getting so worked up about a stolen bracelet is stupid as fuck. Apparently it was "cinema" and "great storytelling" or something.
WWE is too safe and predictable. Punk losing to further his feud with Seth was obvious, Roman returning and Cody retaining was obvious, Judgement Day all losing and Dom siding with Liv was obvious. I think it was slightly better than last year's Summerslam though, but not as good as 2022's.
AEW has the same issue with predictability and staleness (that said, the last month of Dynamite has been a lot better), although I think Danielson vs Swerve in a couple of weeks is less predictable at least, because I don't think he's retiring just yet. The card for this year's All In so far also looks better than last year's.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
The only thing that can save this dumb Drew/Punk thing is AJ Lee coming back as a heel aligned with Drew much in the same way Lita used to be aligned with Edge i.e. they make it clear as day that Drew has been boning Punk's wife.
I think the most interesting thing about SummerSlam is that we may have seen the end of The Judgement Day, or at least the version that we were familiar with.
Rhea vs Liv was a fun match. It had characters I gave a fuck about and a story line I cared about. I wish we had more focus on that these days than meaningless five star matches that no one gives a fuck about. Also, Liv makes my eyes happy...as well as other parts of my body. I've come around on Liv because WWE finally started using her right.
Jax vs Bayley was cool. Bayley woke up the dead crowd with a sic powerbomb and from that point on the crowd was invested.
Gunther vs Priest was good, Gunther is the first credible champion this version of the world title has had. Sorry Seth Rollins and Damien Priest. Gunther might finally put some respect on this damn thing.
The main event match was a stupid match between two mid-carders, and the hottest babyface they have was wasted on a stupid match with a youtuber over a mid-card title. This is WWE in 2024.
Also sad that Chad Gable had nothing to do on this show, and that Otis did nothing other than a backstage commercial when he is one of their most over faces.
