Game Informer shutdown

Post by Ack »

After 33 years, Game Informer magazine has been entirely shut down by GameStop. Their website has been changed to state their farewell.

33 years in the business. That's one hell of a run.

That amount of time being in the business is a great accomplishment for sure. It's a bummer to see them go though.

It looks like many of the issues are archived on RetroMags, if anyone is interested in going through some.

Does anyone have any favorite issues in particular? Some of the issues in 2000 and prior had some interesting cover choices, such as Fear Effect, Wild Arms 2, and The Legend of Oasis.

I believe that is because it had not been purchased by Gamestop yet. Was there a big shift in the style of the magazine when they did?

The Australian version stopped publication like 5 years ago, though it only ran for 10 years or so prior to it getting the axe.

That is a long run. I never read it since you had to be a gamestop member.
The only monthly magazine I still get is "Retro Gamer"
