TMNT - The IDW run

Humble has the whole IDW TMNT comic run, including The Last Ronin, for $18.
First off the IDW run is awesome and the closest thing to the Mirage original TMNT we have ever got. Second, I usually hate buying comics from Humble since they are not easily read on my tablet or kindle without jumping through some hoops, but this one uses Rakuten's Kobo which has an app on most devices for easy downloading and reading.

I'm interested in getting this, but I don't have a good method for reading Kobo books right now. For comics, I currently only have a Kindle Fire HD. Looks like my options would be to install the Google Play Store so I can get the official Kobo app. Or use a program called Calibre to strip the DRM and convert it to a Kindle friendly format. Is there any other way?

I've already decided that my next tablet will be Android or Apple, because everything is easier that way. So at that point I can just use the official Kobo app. So I'm thinking I'll grab this collection now at this great price either way. I haven't read any TMNT before, and I'm pretty new to comics in general. But this looks good. Does it have good story arcs? Starting form the beginning, is a good start to TMNT?

@Ziggy if it's a newer Kindle or took me like 30 minutes tops to add the play store and it seems to work pretty good.

Ziggy, this is a great start.
I was a fan of the original run from before the cartoon - to be honest I didn't find out about it until the cartoon. The comic was ultra violent and a rip off of Frank Miller's Dardevil run and a bit of the 70's X-Men.
TMNT has been redone so many times, this one feels natural compared to the multiple shows, movies, and other comic runs. The Archie comics were goofy fun, but this series brought (kinda) the original creators back. The original creators split and this is the only other comic series with an original creator and both returned for the Last Ronin.
I have finished vol 1 before picking up this deal and look forward to reading the rest of the run.

I read the first volume of the original comics from way back, and now I've read the first couple issues of this IDW run. It's decently interesting, though it certainly upends everything I learned from the cartoon.

I have tons of nostalgia for the cartoons but I loved the OG comics even more. If you love the cartoon the Archie TMNT Adventures was an a crazy blend of the cartoon and original comics but going in it's own crazy direction.

The IDW is similar to the original but still different, but it's fleshed out so much and goes into detail explaining the origin. I love the fact that that it does a great job explaining the martial arts of Splinter and the turtles based off of

reincarnation. Splinter and the Turtles being the reincarnations of the human Foot Ninja Hamato Yoshi and his four sons.

(major spoiler) but this is better than

the learning martial arts from TV

in the newest movie last year.

I ended up purchasing a 9th gen iPad for cheap, so I felt a lot better about picking up this bundle. Thanks again for the heads up, it looks like a neat series.

I'm a Kobo newbie, and as such they sent me a 40% off coupon for my first purchase. Any recommendations?
