the new wolverine game looks like a bloodbath.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

the new wolverine game looks like a bloodbath.

i'm looking forward to picking this game up once it drops to like 10 bucks, as all movie games do.

So- do you guys think that this is an indication of movie games starting to go in a different direction than their source material? I mean- this is clearly very very loosely based on the film. Honestly, if the movie had the body count that this game does in the first few moments, i probably would've liked it more. Wolverine is supposed to chop dudes up. The movie should've been vicious.

I would love it if movie games expanded on the world, or started to push the film in a direction it could never go for a standard release. Maybe i might start playing more of them.

I'm right at the end of it on PC. I'm probably going to write a review here to counter the positive reviews I see elsewhere. It's well below 8/10 average. Just because the developers make extremely arrogant videos about how AWESOME their game is, does not make it so, and certainly does not give reviewers permission to forgo their duties and take the developer's word for it.

And fuck the gore. It's so out of place here. It has no purpose and gives the game a terrible taste.

really? i would think the gore would be the perfect place for a wolverine game. I want to see him go to town on a dude. Just hacking him up.

I haven't seen any hype or anything on this game. It was completely below my radar until i saw the video. Were they really hyping it up a lot?

Yes...but only if "Duke Nukem" were in the title.

Yeah, but look at Daikatana. "John Romero's About To Make You His Bitch." And he totally did! </sarcasm>

Edit: I just watched the videos... wow. They make David Jaffe look humble.

Hey now. No making fun of Raven Software, I work right across from the street from those guys.
They're cool, I promise.

Jaffe is humble, and not just by comparison.

I though Jaffe was the dude who, when questioned about God of War, said it was the best storytelling gaming has seen.

Maybe it wasn't Jaffe, but someone with God of War was making some ludicrous statements about its awesomeness.

I remember reading a magazine - I think EGM, not sure - that had a bunch of developers from all sorts of games, I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid being among them, and whoever they chose to speak for God of War just came across as a pompous ass, boasting about its superior storytelling - which is pretty ridiculous considering Kratos has all the depth of a balled-up fist.

Havent seen that, but I've only been following him in recent years, and he seems very humble to me. Always tells it like it is, albeit with a lot of cursing. His points always seem valid. The few times I've heard him talk about his own games, he didn't blow them out of proportion. I do happen to think God of War 1 + 2 and Twisted Metal 1 + 2 were pretty great.
