Yeah, I have always been a fan of a lot of our PAL cases, although I know not everyone is a fan. The only problem is that they can be fragile and expensive to replace (especially the Dreamcast ones!)
In fact, speaking of Dreamcast cases, I am awaiting a shipment of brand new empty PAL cases, so I can replace some more of my cases. My aim is to have my PAL Dreamcast collection all be perfect with no broken hinges or major cracks. I am down to just a small handful that need replacing now. Maybe about 15 cases out of around 150 ish PAL Dreamcast games, so not too bad.

I'm glad to see Return Fire getting some love! I was surprised to see it on the EGM Top 100 list, but I'm proud to say that I have the 3DO version from around the time it came out, and I also received the PS1 port as a gift when my 3DO started acting finnicky. Good memories playing the PS1 version with my cousins!
Regarding replacement game cases, does anyone have a recommended vendor or site? My copy of Dynamite Cop could use a new case, as my uncle accidentally stepped on it many years ago during a family hangout. Lol.

I find myself swapping Switch cases a lot when I get pre owns with damage or wear and tear, you can actually order new cases straight from Nintendo. I really don't care what condition a Switch case is in for a new game in my collection as long as the cover art is pristine and undamaged as it can always be swapped later.
Back on the subject of a new Switch, just give me a new Starfox and I'll be happy. I'm tired of all the new Zeldas, Metroids, and Marios. STOP IGNORING STARFOX NINTENDO! For fuck's sake, a third party dev had to do your job for you with Starlink

Do you mean US cases, because I thought they were just standard jewel cases? I can't remember what brand was used for Japanese Saturn games, but it was just a standard brand of normal CD jewel cases and I managed to find a seller on eBay.Note wrote:I'm glad to see Return Fire getting some love! If you mean PAL Dreamcast cases, pixelheart.eu picked up a load of brand new cases years ago (they also still have sealed brand new Dreamcast games for sale) and sell them on their website in packs of 1, 5 and 10. I used a coupon code and got some money off. I think it was 'pixelnew', but you should be able to find the one I mean if it's not by googling.

I love the mini mario games that followed this with the lemmings-like gameplay, wouldn't mind seeing those get remastered on Switch too.
Re: Games Acquired 2024
I'll be picking that one up too in the next few weeks. I tried the demo and had fun playing it co-op with my son.

I don’t think Sony is moving away from the PS5. Despite it not really capturing the zeitgeist the way the PS4 did, units and games are selling well. And there’s a large number of gamers who can afford a console but not a gaming PC, or who don’t want to play AAA games on a PC. Sony moving to also develop for PC is a recognition that there are some gamers who don’t overlap, and due to largely similar architecture porting is relatively easy. Consoles are not going to disappear because you can’t get a $550 PC that plays games like a PS5 or Xbox One.
Microsoft exploring greater cross platform work is likely a recognition that the Xbox alone isn’t enough to secure their gaming future, and moving some titles to PS5 as well will take some of the antitrust heat off of them as they practice goodwill gestures.
As for Nintendo, they won’t release that next platform until they have to. Keep in mind that TotK dropped just last year and did fantastically well. I also think Nintendo is really hoping they can beat their DS sales total before fully sunsetting the Switch. Not sure how realistic that might be, though.

Well the reports going around seem to suggest that internally the next Switch system has been pushed back to 2025, so there you go.
I don't think games still doing well or the fact TOTK came out last year stops them moving on though. Again, going back to Playstation, The Last of Us, GTA V and the Tomb Raider reboot all came out for the PS3 right as the PS4 was coming out, just as Last of Us Part 2 and Final Fantasy VII Remake also came out for the PS4 not too long before the PS5 came out.
You want to strike whilst the iron is hot and seamlessly move into the next gen whilst consumers still care about your product, not wait until your console is on its last legs before announcing "hey, you know that console you all used to love and now think is old and stale? Well we have a new one coming out". That was half the issue with the Wii U and the 3DS (although the latter did eventually take off).

Re: Games Acquired 2024
It can be fun having alternate covers in a collection. This is the default cover art for Final Fantasy XII as well as the alternate art that is on the back (it's reversible). The alternate one is on the left side by the way, I think it's the nicer cover actually.

Obviously, buying multiple copies of a game is not financially sound, but I ended up with two copies of this one by accident so I flipped the cover on one of them and I actually kind of like having both covers to display.
