Games Acquired 2023
Re: Games Acquired 2023
Shakedown: Hawaii SLAPS! I wonder if Vblank will do a third GTA-style game. Maybe with an art style in the tradition of sprite-based 32-bit games.

I hope so! This is the fourth time I’ve purchased it!REPO Man wrote:Shakedown: Hawaii SLAPS! I wonder if Vblank will do a third GTA-style game. Maybe with an art style in the tradition of sprite-based 32-bit games.
That said…in the note included with the game, Vblank mentioned their next release would likely be for an actual vintage system. We’ll see!
Re: Games Acquired 2023
Wonder if this means they'll be circling back to the Grand Theftendo concept. Obviously all GTA references would have to be removed.
Re: Games Acquired 2023

...October was pretty light for pickups. I'm pretty geeked about finally getting my hands on Gleylancer, I've heard good things about Jamestown, and Ghost Song slipped right under my radar.

Re: Games Acquired 2023

Quite late, but wanted to share my pick-ups from October! Also had a lighter month, and only picked up a few items.
Toaplan Shooters Collectors Edition (GEN) - I was interested in purchasing the Toaplan Shooter's set when it originally was announced, as I didn't own physical copies of the games offered but I passed at the time. Two years down the line and I came across a used copy in good shape, so I went for it. One of the benefits of this version is the audio issues in Hellfire are fixed and the game sounds fine on Model 2 consoles, which is the version I use. Great set of games!
Gley Lancer (GEN) - Another Genesis shoot 'em up that I preordered last year. I was really happy to receive this game, as I played a bit of it through emulation and really enjoyed it. I've spent a lot of time with the game and finished it already and it's definitely up there for me. Might be my favorite shooter on the console! I'm glad this game finally got an official translation and US release!
Champions: Return to Arms (PS2) - My partner and I love couch co-op action RPGs, especially the games that were developed by Snowblind Studios for the PS2. We're currently playing through Champions of Norrath and enjoying it, so I wanted to grab the sequel. I switched it up and am playing as the Erudite Wizard class in CoN. I might switch it up again and go with the lizard man shaman in RTA! Seems bad ass!

Re: Games Acquired 2023
i picked up a physical copy of Super Mario Bros. Wonder this month.
I also just purchased Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury off of ebay a few minutes ago. The seller was very thorough with his pictures (unlike most sellers), so I saw the back of the cartridge and know that it's the revised one with the update included on the cart. So that's pretty cool.

emwearz 2023 Pickups
Running Total: $186.28 AUD / $122.22USD

I picked these all up about 4 odd months ago, just had work / kids (1 and 4) keeping me busy!
Donkey Kong (N64) - $36AUD / $23.14USD via eBay
I only ever played this at a friends back when it came out, I normally wouldn't pay so much for a retro game, but I had an itch to give it a try and it was not a bad price, I played it right away.
I enjoyed my play through, but the backtracking, mini games, etc turned me off going back and 100%ing the game. I enjoyed it more than I thought
I would considering the hate it gets, and yeah it has problems, but overall I really enjoyed it!
Kinect Rush (360) - $2AUD / $1.35USD via Thrift Shop
Picked this one up for my 4 year old son who loves Toy Story, he gave it a small go and kind of got the hang of it, but the kinect is janky at the best of time.
Cooking Mama 4 (3DS) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
Rayman Origins (3DS) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions (3DS) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins (3DS) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (3DS) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
I went into this Thrift store the day before, but I had some time to kill on my lunch break and decided to go anyhow, these were in a glass case for $3 a pop and I was happy to add them to collection, they had
a few other shovelware games that I left, I went back the next day incase more had gone out but the shovelware titles had been sold too. Gotta be on the hunt daily to stand a chance these days!
Guitar Hero II (PS2) - $0.65AUD / $0.41USD via eBay
Guitar Hero Rock the 80's (PS2) - $0.65AUD / $0.41USD via eBay
Guitar Hero III (PS2) - $0.65AUD / $0.41USD via eBay
Guitar Hero World Tour (PS2) - $0.65AUD / $0.41USD via eBay
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Xbox) - $0.65AUD / $0.41USD via eBay
This was an amazing win on ebay, it was $3.25AUD/$2.13USD for the whole lot including delivery. I only wanted Dave Mirra 2, but I will officially be on the look out for a PS2 guitar now.
Fantasy Zone (SMS) - $5.50AUD/$3.50USD via eBay
I have not picked up a SMS game in quite a few years, so always a pleasure to pick one up for a good price, especially such a high quality title.
Wolfenstein II (PS4) - $7.00AUD / $4.56USD via eBay
I have played through the Machine Head Games Wolf games before on PC, after getting the first one cheap awhile ago, I decided I would give the series another go on PS4. I ended up getting the platinum on the first, so I will get to this one after I find a cheap copy of The Old Blood.
Splinter Cell Double Agent (360) - $3.99AUD / $2.62USD via eBay
I never played either version of this game, but I actually liked the two games that followed it, for $4 I will give it a go at some point in the next decade or two.
