There's a major geek event coming in my city this weekend, and there's like a dozen video game vendors. I'm aiming for slightly more expensive games, ps1 and ps2 preferably (but any CD/dvd console is fine), but with enough cash to spare that if I find anything super weird I can still get it (like that myst board game I found last time). Here's what I have so far as my list:

Puppeteer
Parasite Eve
Orphen: Scion of Sorcery
King Of Route 66
Incredible Crisis
The Unholy War
Medabots Infinity
Evolution Worlds
Vagrant Story
Kingsley's Adventures
Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color
One

Of course, if I have that love at first sight moment with the box art while I'm browsing, then that might be a factor too. Can any of you think of anything else?

Any interest in basically playing as ED-209 from RoboCop? Because that's the PS1 game Future Cop: LAPD. You control a mech to fight in the Crime War of 2098. Don't bother arresting folks, just blow them away.

Back in 2020 the official Sonic the Hedgehog social media accounts posted Sonic's daily schedule:

11:30 PM... When asked if they would elaborate on this, the official response was "No."
Official artwork even seems to confirm it:

Warning: SFW, but very TIHI - eye-bleach required

It takes Sonic an hour and half to clean his house even though he does it every day? I smell a rat.

Puppeteer is one of the most amazing experiences I ever had with a platformer. It's comparable to Astro Bot Rescue Mission in being a game that filled me with childlike wonder while playing it.

Kind of sad how the gaming media has essentially ditched the PS4, along with anyone still buying and playing their games on it.

Whenever a new Playstation game comes out now, not a single media outlet reviews the PS4 version. It's Switch, Xbox, PC, and PS5 only. If you look up most recent releases on the PS 4 on Metacritic or Opencritic there is literally no reviews for the PS4 version. The gaming media has pretty much declared the PS4 dead whether anyone likes it or not.

Kind of sucks given how inferior the PS5 is to the PS4 and how overpriced and hard to find it is. It's like the media is trying to force everyone to upgrade. PS5 has a worse UI than the PS4, uglier trophies, and no save back up unless you pay for PS Plus. It's a downgrade in every way that matters. A few little improvements in FPS, resolution, and load times don't matter compared to what you're losing. In fact, nothing about the PS5 feels "next gen". It's a small, incremental jump forward in terms of technology and still nowhere even close to the PC market and that's coming from someone who is not even a PC gamer. They could have kept the PS4 going for another five years.

I also hate companies like SquareEnix being dicks to PS4 owners with exclusive P5 only content for Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Had to get that little rant out of my system and this seemed like the thread for it.

This is due in part to the fact that there are so few PS5 exclusives. If you look at the fact that it can do ray-tracing and the insanely fast loading from those engineered SSDs that sort of gives it the cross-over into next-gen. But that's going to have to be something that developers can capitalize on. For 4k gamers who want fast action at 120 fps, no, ray tracing is not going to happen. But also, nothing that looks a ton better than the PS4, either. It definitely beats the PC market for the price, however. And that's what the console market has been for the past few generations. It's not about beating the PC market in graphics. There's always someone willing to spend $1600+ on a gaming PC that will run the latest and greatest. But the fact that a $500 PS5 can, at least in many ways, match a $1500 gaming PC isn't bad at all. That's a reasonable target, IMO.

This does raise a question about what Next Gen means any more. We're at the point where the only fundamentally new graphics tech on the market is ray tracing. Otherwise it's about higher quality textures and increasing resolution. Cyberpunk was considered truly next gen when it dropped (despite being horribly broken). The fact that it's now very playable on the PS5 and Xbox serX is a pretty good indication that those consoles are Next Gen at their core. But capitalizing on that is going to be a job for AAA studios with massive budgets and incentives not to simply pander to the existing PS4 user base.

I am outdated on current gaming trends, but if Starfield is a game where you travel space and land on planets where you see different worlds and explore them this sounds like a dream for many gamers/SciFi fans and what StarCitizen aims to be. Sounds like one of this early 90's space travel shows. Make that MMO and I think they will make ridiculous amount of money.
