Some awesome pick-ups lately!
Syndicate, you found some great stuff at Too Many Games! Especially enjoy seeing the Genesis pick-ups, all titles I'm interested in too! Especially Treasure Land. I've been interested in going to that event, but it'd be quite a long trip for me.
Markies, you made out really well between the game stores in your area and the convention! Brave Fencer Musashi is a title I'm interested in as well. Have a feeling I'd be into it. I'm thinking of going to a convention here in New York next weekend.
AJ, awesome finds as well! I've heard good things about Silent Bomber, I'd like to check that one out too. Rapid Reload is a curiosity for me, since it was done by Media Vision. Too bad we never got it here in the States! Emulation might be my friend for that one. Lol.
Prfsnl, that's cool you got Super Fantasy Zone on the MD! Is it the EU or JP version?

It’s the EU version. The game isn’t optimized for 50 HZ; so, it plays nice with NTSC. Also, the manual’s in English, among many other languages, and the EU version is much less expensive than the JPN version.Note wrote:Prfsnl, that's cool you got Super Fantasy Zone on the MD! I’m also on a kick lately to complete my Atari text label collection. I picked up a HTF version of Codebreaker yesterday, and I have only two variants to go before I have the full rainbow of Atari text label carts! It will look so cool, and I’ll take a picture the next time I drag out my collection. (The game room remodel is moving again after a prolonged hardscaping project. I’m cautiously optimistic I will be able to start displaying things by the fall.)
Re: Games Acquired 2023
...sounds like everyone made some nice pickups for July, that Super Fantasy Zone sounds especially nice. Coming off of TMG in June I slowed down a bit and only picked up two games. I've had a very relaxing and fun time w/Power Wash Simulator on Game Pass, so when it became available physically, I had to grab a copy. Mutant Year Zero was a recommendation I took someone up on and I'm looking forward to checking it out. I generally enjoy tactical games and I've heard good things about this one.

That's interesting that it isn't optimized for 50 Hz. Does the EU cart work on a US console without the need of a converter or Game Genie?prfsnl_gmr wrote: It’s the EU version. Nice pick-ups, Syndicate. Looks like you found some great stuff at Too Many Games! McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure is up there on my list for Genesis games to check out. Also, curious to know what you think of Herzog Zwei. I've heard good things about it.Syndicate wrote:...sounds like everyone made some nice pickups for July, that Super Fantasy Zone sounds especially nice. I recall someone else on the forum enjoying Power Wash Simulator. Maybe it was Ack? Either way, sounds like a fun game. Mutant Year Zero looks interesting too, never heard of it!

Many early Mega Drive releases are not optimized for 50 Hz, apparently. Also, the only lock out is physical; so, it should work on my Genesis without too much effort.Note wrote:That's interesting that it isn't optimized for 50 Hz. Re: Games Acquired 2023
My most recent pickups are two 2600 games no Gen X’er wanted to see under the Christmas tree in 1978…Basic Math and Fun With Numbers.
That said, they were the last two games I needed to complete my collection of Atari “text label” games. I’ll add them to the collection and take a picture of the beautiful text label rainbow as soon as I get the chance.

Congrats on finishing up that sub-collection of Atari games! Looking forward to seeing the photo of it all together.
I'm behind on posting my recent purchases, as I had to pack up my apartment in mid-June. However, I think I'll be able to unpack everything this weekend and can finally share the games I've picked up over the summer so far!

Re: Games Acquired 2023
The sequel to the excellent Mega Man-inspired roguelike 20XX came out. 30XX was in early access for ages but got a full release today so I snagged the Switch version.
Oh, and ages ago I preordered the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game for PS5. It's pretty fucking boss. So far I've only played on the Family side, first as The Hitchhiker and giving Johnny a try. So far he's my main.
