Smile: had a nice vacation with family and got to see Barbie

Frown: wife sprained her ankle a few days ago and now I’m standing outside out hotel and the fire alarm is blaring. Talk about a wake up call.

Went down and got drinks at my favorite bar last night, and I was really happy to see my picture is hanging on the wall still. Haven't been there in a few months so I figured it might have been taken down.
I got ID'd by a bartender that I absolutely didn't recognize when I walked in and most of my friends that I'd see hanging there have moved- it's definitely not the same as it used to be but I'll always have love for the place.

Have you ever misplaced something, and you know it just HAS to be somewhere, but you just can't seem to find it?

Early this year I bought some EEPROMs to use for the BIOS on all those old motherboards I've been fooling around with. And I can't for the life of me find them! Now so much time has passed, I was actually doubting if I ever got them or not. Did I just imagine that I did? No. I checked my email, and I definitely ordered them. I also ordered a chip remover tool, and I definitely remember playing around with it when I got it in with the chips. So where the hell are the chips!?

There's only one room they would be in, and I've checked just about everywhere three times over. So now I'm thinking I might have accidentally thrown them out. I checked both garbage cans that I keep in that room, that I haven't emptied since before I ordered the chip (they don't get much use, hence why I don't empty them often) but still no chips. Maybe I accidentally tossed them with other garbage that I took out of the room, like boxes with packing materials from other shipments I've received. Well, that would be a bummer.

I could just say, yes, I accidentally threw them out. But I know as soon as I order more, then they'll turn up!

I had a minor surgery Friday and while I’m definitely going to need some time to heal I’m impressed with how easily manageable the pain is. I’m getting by on regular strength Tylenol, despite being given a 3-day scrip for oxy. Not filling that scrip. Totally unnecessary, unless I do something dumb (which I might if I continue to underestimate this surgery). Glad the recovery is off to an ok start!

My pharmacy filled an unannounced prescription today. My dr apparently called in a prescription painkiller (and didn't tell me) I'd never heard of before which has a VERY specific purpose: soothing bladder and urethral discomfort. Like, that's what it does. And it's recommended for VERY short doses not because it's necessarily toxic in that short a span but because it's too effective at masking unresolved bladder/urinary infections.

So I guess that's neither a smile nor a frown, but more a WTF. But hey, I learned something random out of it, even though I don't need it at all and it was an $8 learning exercise.

Note to self: ask wife to actually look at prescription before paying for it, and to text me if she has no clue what it is.

Everyone else staying healthy and uninjured?

In body or mind?

Sorry, I meant to make a reply in this thread after your last post but completely forgot to come back. This thread doesn't get bumped up as often anymore. But I'm glad to hear your surgery went OK and you're on the road to recovery! Sometimes minor surgery can kind of be a stay-cation. I hope it wasn't anything to do with your hands, so you could spend a lot of time gaming during your recovery!

Healthy? Yes. Uninjured? No. I keep pulling or straining muscles deep in my hip and thigh, which is very, very uncomfortable. Kept me up most of last night unfortunately…

I was on painkillers after my surgery, and man oh man, the constipation you get from opioids is the worst. Your doctor is doing you a favor with that medicine.

Sounds like a recipe for physical therapy. "Add one part all-your-money to two parts painful but rewarding physical activity. Then go broke before you've had enough sessions to fully fix your problem."

I'm back!

Sabbatical was a bust.

:D My brother's been back for awhile! He's taking everything day by day and trying to stay clean and stay busy.

 Sadly he doesn't have his own place yet, but thankfully he's been couch surfing his way to not having to sleep in his car, which has broken down at some point.

:D When he gets his own place I'm giving him my old PS4 and a stack of games. And if I have tge cash I'll throw in a PSN gift card. I told him to get PS Plus Premium but I think he will be happy with Extra at least.

Obviously he has more pressing matters to attend to.

:D Bought and installed a 2TB SSD into my PS5.

Other than that, same shit, different day. Last Friday when I was doing laundry none of the dryers worked so I had to hang everything in my shower stall.

Hope everyone is doing alright. And if not I hope a more preferable fate awaits you in the near future.
